Florinis Irenaios at the 24th Panhellenic Torch Run of Volunteer Blood Donorstranslated

On Sunday, September 6, 2026, the Most Reverend Metropolitan of Florina, Prespa and Eordaia, Mr. Irenaios, participated in the opening of the 24th Panhellenic Volunteer Blood Donor Torch Run, which took place in Florina, conveying the message of voluntary blood donation, donation and solidarity with fellow human beings. The start of the action took place at the Holy Metropolitan Church of Agios Panteleimonos of Florina, where the "Flame of Love" was lit. The Metropolitan was close to the organizers, the volunteer blood donors and the participants, supporting with his presence the initiative and the message of practical giving to people.

Afterwards, young and old followed the torchlight route through the main streets of the city, ending at the New Park where events dedicated to voluntary blood donation took place.

The action was organized by the Municipality of Florina, in collaboration with the Panhellenic Federation of Voluntary Blood Donor Associations and the General Hospital of Florina "Eleni Th. Dimitriou".

Nice to see that Metropolitan Irenaios lit the flame of love in Saint Pantaleimon Church. Such events remind us that blood donations can help in a very practical way, especially in the hospital in Florina. Hopefully there were a lot of young people there.

It is good that Bishop Iriney lit the "Flame of Love" precisely in the church of Saint Panteleimon. It is correct that they started with a prayer, and then they already walked the streets. In our Lviv, people often ask for blood for the sick, so this kind of work is always needed.

At our hospital, we see every day how much donated blood matters, especially for operations and emergencies. I hope that many young people from Florina came, that they are the ones who can continue this work.
