Under the mighty cover of our Virgin Mary, over time, the akrites of Evros resort, who as a "Mighty General" is the protector of the borders of our Motherland, who covers and guides Her faithful people, at the same time giving them the strength to face trials with patience and to keep the hope of faith in their souls unquenchable. Honoring Her holy face, every year, on these days the heart of the unspoiled Evros beats in the Forest of Dadia, world famous for its unique flora and unique fauna, in the idyllic natural environment of which stands the historic Monastery of Dadia, as a spiritual beacon, where on September 8, the day of the Feast of the Nativity of the Virgin, devout Christians from the entire wider area of Evros flock to this holy place to worship the efesto, miraculous icon of the Virgin Mary.
