Yesterday, Thursday, August 13, 2026, the Most Reverend Metropolitan of Larissa and Tyrnavos, Mr. Ieronymos, went to the Holy Church of the Assumption of the Virgin in Kastri Loutro, in order to officiate at the Vespers of the Eve of the Assumption of the Virgin and to celebrate the last for this year, the Great Supplication to the Most Holy Theotokos. Last night I read about the last Prayer in Kastri Baths. I liked that His Holiness said that it is up to us how we live for eternity, not just death. I hope next year I can go once with my daughters before the holidays are over.

The bit about our choices deciding how we spend eternity stuck with me too, Katerina. It’s a sobering thought on a warm August evening. I hope you and your girls manage to get there next year before the Paraklesis season ends.

And I was left with the phrase about our choices that determine eternity, as His Holiness said. Last year my daughter and I went after school and it was full of people from Larissa, as if it was a family celebration. I hope that next year we won't be too busy with work and that we too can catch up before the holidays close.
