Brisbane: Vigil for Saint John the Theologian in the Parish – Community of Saint Georgetranslated

In the context of its pastoral life, the Holy Episcopate of Brisbane conducts Hierarchical Vigils each month in its Parishes, with the presence of the Most Reverend Bishop of Brisbane, Rt Rev. Bartholomew, and the Holy Clergy of North Queensland. On Friday evening, September 25, a Hierarchical Vigil concluded at the Parish – Community of Saint George, South Brisbane, on the feast of Saint John the Theologian, Apostle and Evangelist.

The Most Reverend Rt Rev. Bartholomew chanted the Vespers and presided over the Divine Liturgy, assisted by clergy from the Holy Episcopate of Brisbane.

In his sermon, the Most Reverend spoke about the life and personality of Saint John, his dedication to Christ, and his unique position among the Apostles. Saint John was a beloved disciple of the Lord, who remained close to Him throughout His earthly ministry and stood faithful beneath the Cross. It was there that Christ entrusted the care of the Virgin Mother.
