The Epitaph of Panagia in Leika Kalamatatranslated

With the presence of a large number of believers, from the wider area of Kalamata, the feast of the Assumption of the Virgin Mary was celebrated in the Parish Church of the same name in the Leika district of Kalamata.

On the evening of the patronymic day, the solemn Vespers was celebrated, pre-eminent of the Protosygello of the Holy Metropolis of Messinia, Archimandrite Philipps Hamargias, flanked by the High Priestly Commissioner of Kalamata Archimandrite Christophoros Damatis, Archimandrites Irenaios Gogounis, Alexios Sarandopoulos and Neophytos Sahlas and Protopresbyter Athanasios Sipsas.

Before the end of the Vespers, the Praises of the Virgin Mary were sung and then the Holy Shroud of the Epitaph, accompanied by the holy clergy and the people and many members of the Municipal Council of Kalamata.

In his brief homily, Father Filippos emphasized that "the Virgin Mary is giving us a message through today's feast of her Assumption. That when we live according to Christ then death turns into Sleep".

Finally, he conveyed the wishes of the Most Reverend Metropolitan of Messinia, Mr. Chrysostomos, thanked the present lords for their presence and congratulated the vicar of the parish, Fr. Georgios...
