The Greek Parish of Canberra honored the memory of Eleftherios Venizelostranslated

The Oceania Branch of the "Eleftherios K. Venizelos" National Foundation, in collaboration with the Greek Orthodox Community and Church of Canberra and Surroundings, organized a series of anniversary events in Canberra, on the occasion of the completion of 90 years since the death of National Patriarch Eleftherios K. Venizelos. The events were held with the blessings of the Most Reverend Archbishop of Australia, Mr. Makariou and with the presence of the Ambassador of Greece to Australia, Mr. Stavros Venizelos. Their goal was to honor the memory of the great political man, preserve historical memory and highlight his invaluable contribution to Hellenism and modern Greece.

On Saturday, August 1, dozens of expatriates watched the movie "Venizelos - The Struggle for Asia Minor", at the Palace Cinemas. The screening was an important opportunity for the public to get to know, through the seventh art, one of the most defining periods of modern Greek history and the leading role played by Eleftherios Venizelos in the events of the time. The screening was a contribution of the Annex to the Greek School of Canberra.
