Elder Ephraim at the International Theological Conference: "Monasticism is a jewel of the Church"translated

"Monasticism - Asceticism, according to the Agioreitiko Typikos" was the topic of the speech of the Professor of the Holy Great Monastery of Vatopedi on Mount Athos, Elder Ephraim at the 6th International Theological Conference of the Panhellenic Union of Theologists, which takes place on the two days of September 18-19, 2026, in the Hall of the Society of Friends of the People, in 12 Evripidou Street, Athens. Title of the Conference: "The teaching of the Orthodox Course of Religious Studies with the New Programs and Books" and is under the auspices of the Permanent Holy Synod.

Elder Ephraim in his speech emphasized, among other things, that "monasticism is not something outside the Church. The way of life is different as the Monks live with consecration and carelessness and it is easier to experience the Holy Spirit.'  That is why, as he said, we have many Holy monks, known and unknown. He characterized monasticism as a jewel of the Church that should be promoted, giving as an example the production of the Institute of Saint Maximus the Greek on the life of Saint Paisios.
