In Georgia, Metropolitan Antonios of Volokolamsktranslated

On September 28, 2026, with the blessing of His Beatitude Patriarch of Moscow and All Russia, Mr. Kirillou, the Most Reverend Metropolitan of Volokolamsk, Mr. Antonios, President of the Department of External Church Relations (TEES) of the Moscow Patriarchate, arrived in Georgia. He was accompanied by Archpriest Nikolaos Balasov, Advisor to the Patriarch of Moscow and All Russia, Archpriest Igor Yakimchuk, Deputy Chairman of the Department of External Church Relations, and Archpriest Nikolaos Vasin, Secretary to the President of TEES.

At Tbilisi International Airport, the guests of the Russian Orthodox Church were welcomed by Metropolitan Gori Andreas, Archpriest Kakhaber Gogotishvili, Archpriest Vladimir Alexandrov, clergyman of the Russian Orthodox Church in Tbilisi, and D.A. Olishov, head of the Department of Interests of the Russian Federation at the Embassy of the Swiss Confederation in Georgia.

On September 29, Metropolitan Antonios and his companions made a pilgrimage to Msheta. On their way to the ancient capital of Georgia, they visited the Tzvari Monastery.
