Piraeus Seraphim: "The Cross is raised today to stimulate the power of struggle in our lives"translated

Preceded by the Venerable Metropolitan of Piraeus, Mr. Seraphim, the great feast of the Exaltation of the Holy and Living Cross was celebrated in the Holy Metropolis of Piraeus. In the celebratory Holy Church of the Holy Cross of Kastella, on Sunday September 13, 2026, the solemn Vespers of the Most Reverend Metropolitan of Piraeus, Mr. Seraphim, co-celebrant of the Theophilist Bishop Achelou, Mr. Niphonos, Assistant Bishop and Protosignal of our local Church, who also preached the Divine Word.

The High Priests were flanked by the General High Priestly Commissioner of our local Church Protopresbyter Ioannis Panagiotou and clergy of the Piraeus Diocese.

During Vespers, His Holiness awarded the office of Steward to the vicar of the Church and President of the Ecclesiastical Council, Most Reverend Elder Dimitrios Leontarakis for "the piety, loyalty and love of a chosen fellow elder", as he characteristically said.
