Ecclesiastical events of the Archepiscopal District of Amphilochia for the 200th Anniversary of the Fall of Missolonghitranslated

The Archepiscopal District of Amphilochia, under the banner of the Holy Metropolitanate of Aitolia and Acarnania and with a sense of national pride and historical responsibility, organizes on Saturday, September 26, 2026, commemorative events in Amvrakia and Amphilochia, taking advantage of this opportunity to celebrate the completion of two hundred years since the Heroic Fall of the Free Besieged of the Holy City of Missolonghi.

These events are an expression of honor and gratitude towards the fighters and heroes of the Exodus, but also an occasion for highlighting the significant participation of the Valiants in the Great Struggle during the siege and the supreme sacrifice of the Free Besieged.

The program will be developed into two parts, with a focus on Amvrakia in the morning and Amphilochia in the afternoon.

**MORNING PROGRAM – AMVRAKIA**

In the Holy Church of Dormition of the Theotokos of Amvrakia, Morning Prayer and Divine Liturgy will take place.

Following this, an Epimnemos Prayer will be offered as a minimum tribute of honor and gratitude to those who fell and all those who fought and sacrificed for faith and the freedom of the homeland.
