Agia Pelagia and the finding of the icon of Panagia of Tinostranslated

July 23, 2026 · 1 min read

On July 23, Saint Pelagia of Tinos is celebrated, the nun who, with a revelation of the Virgin Mary, found the historic and miraculous icon of the Virgin Mary of Megalocharis of Tinos, a few months after the start of the 1821 revolution. This is the only day that the icon comes out of the church of Panagia of Tinos and goes to the Assumption Monastery in Kehrovouni. The nun Pelagia was ascetic there when she saw in her dream the icon of the Virgin Mary, which had to be found.
