Cooperation for the further development of the Archaeological Land Registrytranslated

The expansion and deepening of the cooperation between them, with the object of further development of the Archaeological Cadastre, on the geospatial bases of the National Cadastre, the highlighting and exploitation of the real estate of the Ministry of Culture and the systematic geospatial mapping of the cultural heritage protection zones, throughout the territory, were announced by the Minister of Culture, Lina Mendoni and the Deputy Minister of Digital Governance and Artificial Intelligence, Christos Dermentzopoulos through the supervised entity "Hellenic Land Registry". The initiative is a typical example of the way in which the digital infrastructures of the Government can work in a complementary and multiplicative manner.

Today, for 99% of the country, cadastral data has been posted and a National Land Registry Code Number (KAEK) has been assigned. This geospatial infrastructure offers a single frame of reference, on which the Archaeological Cadastre can map with greater precision the immovable monuments, archaeological sites, historical sites, their protection zones and the real estate of the Ministry of Culture. This is a good step when culture and digital maps are combined. When 99% of the country already has KAEK, the zones around the monuments could finally be more precisely protected. I just hope it won't just be on paper and will really be used in practice.

I agree, the geospatial data could really help in the preservation of monuments. Here in Prešov, the surroundings of the church of St. Mikuláš, where something is still being built. I just wonder if it will also work at the local level for ordinary people, not just for the authorities.
