On the afternoon of Thursday, August 13, 2026, His Eminence Metropolitan Mr. Panteleimon officiated during the service of the Great Canon of Prayer and the Praises to the Most Holy Theotokos at the Holy Cathedral of the Annunciation of the Theotokos Komotini. Before the dismissal, His Holiness spoke to the congregation about the face of the Virgin Mary as the refuge and hope of the faithful.

And he prayed fervently that the Mother of God would protect and strengthen everyone, giving health, peace and spiritual joy to families and our country.

I am glad that His Holiness spoke about the Virgin Mary as a refuge, this is what many need today. In Athens we don't always have time to go to such services, but it's nice to see that they take place in other cities like Komotini. We hope that he will indeed protect us with health and peace.
