Heraklion: 3 people were arrested for distinguished thefts in churchestranslated

Yesterday (29.09.2026) in the afternoon by police officers of the Kastelli Police Station of Heraklion, three local defendants were arrested for distinguished thefts in Heraklion. In particular, in the evening hours of 28.09.2026, unknown persons attempted to enter a Holy Church in the area of ​​the Municipality of Minoa Pediada with the intention of theft.

In the context of the appropriate utilization of information by the police officers of the above Service, two citizens (a 59-year-old and a 27-year-old) and a 32-year-old citizen were identified who were located in the afternoon yesterday (29.09.2026) and arrested.

As it emerged from the preliminary investigation of the above Service, the three citizens, during the time period from 09.09.2026 to 28.09.2026, had carried out a total of -4 thefts (one completed and three attempts) at Holy Churches in the wider area of ​​the above Municipality, having removed the monetary amount of -300 euros.

During an investigation at I.X.E. car they were using, burglary tools (2 crowbars) were found and confiscated.

It was also found that the vehicle is owned by another national, and it had fake license plates of another vehicle.
