The feast of the Assumption of Saint Anne in Jerusalemtranslated

The commemoration of the Assumption of the Prophet Saint Anne was celebrated at the Patriarchate of Jerusalem on Friday, August 7, 2026 (July 25, 2026 according to the old calendar) with the center of the Holy Monastery of the same name, which is located near the Gate of Saint Stephen, also known as the Gate of Lions, in the Old City of Jerusalem. During this feast, the Church honors the miraculous conception of the Blessed Virgin Mary by Saint Anne, who until then was barren. After fervent prayer, God heard her request and claimed her to be the mother of the Virgin Mary. Saint Anna and her husband, the Righteous Joachim, dedicated their child to God and, after living faithfully, fell asleep peacefully in the Lord. According to the Fathers of the Church, Saint Anna fell asleep at the age of about sixty-eight years, while Joachim the Righteous at the age of about eighty years.
In the Holy Monastery, in honor of the Dormition of Saint Anna, the solemn Vespers in the evening of the eve and the Divine Liturgy in the morning of the feast were celebrated, presided over by the Reverend Archbishop Sebastia Mr. Theodosios.
