Disappointment among Theologians: Only 38 recruitments of substitutes, despite the large vacanciestranslated

Report office ope.gr With 6,683 new recruitments of substitute teachers and members of Special Educational and Special Auxiliary Staff, the Ministry of Education, Religion and Sports has announced that it has strengthened school units throughout the country for the academic year 2026-2027. However, in the PEO1 branch, i.e. Theologians, disappointment prevails for another school year as, despite the increased vacancies recorded, the number of those recruited in the second phase of recruitment was only 38.  According to information from ope.gr, there are more than 220 vacancies for theology in all the country's schools. However, as can be seen from yesterday's appointments, this is not enough for the Ministry of Education to listen to the great problem and the intense frustration of unappointed theologians. "The new phase of recruitment is directed to where the needs of the educational community are recorded, with the aim of more teachers in the classrooms and stronger support structures for the children who need it the most", the Ministry emphasizes in its announcement.
