Foreign Minister: Panagia inspires and unites Greeks through timetranslated

August 15, 2026 · 1 min read

With its message for the Fifteenth of August, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs refers to the importance of the Dormition of the Virgin for Orthodoxy, but also to the eternal connection of the holiday with the history and traditions of the Greek people. "Greece celebrates, today August 15th, the Dormition of the Virgin Mary, a great holiday of Orthodoxy, inextricably linked to the history and traditions of our people, which throughout time inspires and unites the Greeks", reports the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

At the same time, he sends his best wishes to Hellenism everywhere, noting: "Happy birthday to Greek women and men all over the world!".
