Metropolitan Savvas in Hagia Sophia in Warsaw for the Nativity of the Virgin Marytranslated

The Metropolitan of Warsaw and all Poland officiated in Hagia Sophia in Warsaw, His Excellency. Saturday during the Mother of God feast of the Genesis of the Most Holy Theotokos.  The celebrants began the eve of the holiday with an all-night vigil. On the same day, a consecration took place and then the Holy Liturgy began for the presbyter, the Metropolitan, Mr. Savvas, the initiator of the construction of this emblematic church for Orthodoxy in Poland. His Beatitude was flanked by Bishop Siemiatice Mr. Varsonofius and clergy of the church.

The Primate of the Orthodox Church in Poland, in addition to the theological meaning of the holiday, made special reference to the two Holy Churches dedicated to the Wisdom of God in Bialystok and Warsaw, which were his personal vision to remind the Orthodox of the country of the great Church of Hagia Sophia in Constantinople.

He also reminded that the construction of Hagia Sophia was not a simple matter as many challenges had to be overcome, in addition to the bureaucratic ones. With perseverance and God's help, everything was overcome", he said.
