New Skete Monasteries to Host Annual Pilgrimage Celebration on August 8

New Skete Monasteries will host its annual Pilgrimage Celebration on Saturday, August 8, 2026, at 273 New Skete Lane, Cambridge, NY. The day is open to the public and offers an opportunity for prayer, worship, learning, and fellowship in the peaceful setting of the monastery.

The pilgrimage invites visitors to experience the rhythm of monastic life through the Divine Liturgy, guided tours of Holy Wisdom Church, opportunities for quiet reflection in the monastery’s Labyrinth, and fellowship with members of the community.

This year’s featured speaker is Dr. Ioana Popa, a physician-psychiatrist, educator, executive coach, Christian spiritual-care provider, and co-founder and CEO of Team For The Soul® Institute. Her afternoon presentation, “Science and Faith: Partners in the Journey,” will explore the integration of body, mind, heart, and soul as we seek to live and serve Christ.

The day begins with Matins at 8:45 AM, followed by the Divine Liturgy at 9:45 AM. Additional activities include a guided tour of Holy Wisdom Church, an introduction to the monastery’s Labyrinth, folk dancing, and Vespers with a Healing Service at 5:00 PM. Lunch will be available, with donations…

Das klingt nach einem ruhigen und guten Tag. Besonders der Vortrag von Dr. Ioana Popa interessiert mich, weil sie Ärztin ist – passt gut zu meinem Beruf als Krankenschwester. Ich überlege, ob ich den 8. August freinehmen kann.

The talk by Dr. Ioana Popa sounds interesting, especially the part about body, mind, heart, and soul working together. My daughter is studying nursing, so I might bring her along if she can get the day off. Hope the lunch is as good as last time.

That integration of body and mind is exactly why nursing can feel so close to prayer sometimes. My own daughter finished her nursing degree a few years back and still talks about how the quiet moments with patients stay with her longest.
