Five local residents were baptized into the Orthodox Church during the week in the capital city of Zimbabwe, Harare.

The Baptism was conducted on the parish dedicated to the Nativity of the Most Holy Theotokos by the Patriarchal Exarchate for Africa, reports the Exarchate's website.

"The priest-in-charge, Hieromonk Emilian Shumba, baptized five local residents with the names Alexander, Elena, Tatiana, Macrina, and Elisha," states the announcement.

It is noted that before their baptism, all new members of the Church completed a course in catechesis, and they will continue to study Orthodox Christianity under the guidance of Father Emilian.
