Sea shift of “Volunteers”: five days of friendship, work and common prayertranslated

The sea shift of the “Volunteer” camp at the St. Nicholas Church in the village of Nikulino has ended, giving the participants five busy days filled with prayer, new discoveries, teamwork and real sea spirit.

The first day of the camp began with general prayer. Before departure, a special prayer service was held, during which the children uttered many petitions in their own words, thanking the Lord and asking for His help, strength and blessings for the coming days. It was prayer that became the spiritual basis of the entire shift.

Each subsequent day was filled with interesting events. The children took part in water relay races, mastered the construction of rafts, learned to work with a screwdriver and a hacksaw, and also went fishing, where they managed to catch their first perch.

A special event was the meeting with the dean of the Sretensky Monastery, Father Afanasy, and his team. Around the evening fire there was a sincere conversation about the choice of life path, Christian vocation and monastic life.

One of the brightest moments of the shift was the naval parade. Young sailors prepared creative performances, presented their flotillas, built sand fortresses and took part in a fun water battle. It continued and...
