The Cernica Monastery recently purchased a new canopy for the reliquary with the relics of the Holy Confessor Priest Dumitru Stăniloae.

Next to the holy smell is an icon depicting the saint canonized by the Romanian Orthodox Church in 2024. Made in white, red and gold, the canopy is dominated by carved columns, floral motifs and a large pediment.

The purchase of the new decorative element was made on the occasion of the feast of Saint Dumitru Staniloae, which will take place on Sunday at the Cernica Monastery.

The liturgical events will begin on Saturday, October 3, with the vigil service.

The program will continue on Sunday, October 4, with the Akathist of Saint Dumitru Stăniloae and the Holy Liturgy, performed by father emeritus professor Ștefan Buchiu, honorary diocesan vicar of the Archdiocese of Bucharest, delegate of His Beatitude Father Patriarch Daniel.

Holy Confessor Priest Dumitru Stăniloae He was born on November 16, 1903, in the town of Vladeni, Brașov county. He attended the courses of the "Andrei Șaguna" High School in Brașov and the Faculty of Theology in Chernivtsi, completing them in Athens.
