ITO 2026 has ended: The baton has been taken over by the Archdiocese of Iasitranslated

The International Meeting of Orthodox Youth 2026 ended on Thursday at the National Cathedral with the Holy Liturgy and the festivity of handing over the torch to the Archdiocese of Iasi, appointed to organize the next meeting.

The service was officiated by the Patriarchal Vicar Bishops Varlaam Ploieșteanul and Paisie Sinaitul, together with the Vicar Bishop Timotei Prahoveanul of the Archdiocese of Bucharest. Bishop Agatonic of Arusha and Central Tanzania of the Patriarchate of Alexandria and All Africa and Bishop Macarie of Northern Europe also attended the service.

The 2,400 young guests and volunteers of the meeting, as well as believers, could participate in the prayer, being the first Holy Liturgy celebrated this year at the National Cathedral.

Family crisis Blessed Father Patriarch Daniel addressed the young people in a message in which he emphasized that "the conjugal family and the ecclesial family are icons of the love of the Holy Trinity and blessings for humanity."

His Beatitude signaled that the natural, traditional conjugal family is in crisis, mutating towards an uncertain and confused future.

Thank God that the Liturgy at the National Cathedral was finally held with so many young people. I was especially touched by how Patriarch Daniel spoke directly about the crisis of the traditional family and about this materialistic individualism. It’s the same thing here in Russia, it’s sad to see. I wonder what exactly will be prepared in Iasi for 2026.
