ICR prepares a new generation of translators of Romanian literature for the German-speaking worldtranslated

The Romanian Cultural Institute "Titu Maiorescu" in Berlin organized the first edition of the Romanian-German Translation Workshop "Suntem ceea ce scriem", a program dedicated to training translators of Romanian literature and strengthening the presence of Romanian authors in the German-speaking world.
The activity took place at the University of Leipzig on June 17-18 and July 1-2 and brought together participants interested in deepening the translation of Romanian literature into German.
The two intensive sessions were dedicated to contemporary prose and poetry. The session dedicated to prose was supported by translator Gundel Große, and the one dedicated to poetry by translator Alexandru Bulucz. The workshop was coordinated by the translator and researcher Iulia Dondorici.
During the four working days, the participants translated and analyzed texts from contemporary Romanian literature, benefiting from specialized feedback and discussions regarding the challenges of literary translation, the relationship between translator and publisher, as well as the role of translation in promoting Romanian authors on the international market.
