On September 21, Orthodox believers celebrate the Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary - one of the major church holidays. According to the old style, this date falls on September 8. The holiday is dedicated to the birth of the Virgin Mary, mother of Jesus Christ.

In honor of the Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary, churches were consecrated in many localities in Moldova, so it is on these days that the Church of a village or city is traditionally celebrated there.
