I agree, Vakhtang, the roof gets hit first. Our Tbilisi churches often have the same problem after the rain. Hopefully they can get the repairs done quickly in Hoboken before another storm hits.

I see everyone mentioning the roof and altar getting wet at St. Michael's again. That's a shame, those old tin sections have been patched before. Hope they dried everything out quick before the icons or woodwork suffered more.

I remember when they patched that tin roof back in '08 after the nor'easter — same problem, water came right through the seams again. Did they get the dehumidifiers in there fast enough this time, or is the altar area still a mess?

Too bad for St. Mihaila, that old metal sheet above the altar gave way again like in '08. at least they removed the icons in time, but the woodwork underneath was sure to swell if they didn't dry quickly. Does anyone have a new picture of the inside?

Yes, that old sheet really sagged right above the altar, you could see it in the photos. Thank God, they pulled out the benches in time, they are still in the basement. Did you perhaps go to a service there a few years ago when they had that little choir from Belgrade?

I agree, Levan, the roof is definitely the first target. We had the same thing in our St. Nino Church in Batumi last year, after one big rain, the water came straight inside. Hopefully they can get it to Hoboken soon so it doesn't get even more expensive to repair.
