Historic Church of All Saints in Himara consecrated by Metropolitan of Gjirokastër

June 8, 2026 · 1 min read

Metropolitan Nathanael of Gjirokastër solemnly consecrated the Church of All Saints in Himara on the Sunday of All Saints, celebrating the occasion with the liturgical splendor traditionally associated with such significant ecclesiastical events.

Participating in the consecration ceremony was Archimandrite Arsenios Maipas, Abbot of the Monastery of Molyvdoskepastos of the Metropolis of Konitsa.

The Church of All Saints holds a special place in the history of Himara. Built around 1775 at the entrance of Himara Castle, the church was erected following the encouragement and missionary work of Saint Cosmas the Aetolian, one of the most revered figures of Orthodox Christianity in the region.
