G20 Interfaith Forum leadership meets with Ecumenical Patriarchate in Brussels to strengthen European dimension of interfaith dialoguetranslated

Brussels, September 9, 2026 — The leadership of the G20 Interfaith Forum met with His Eminence Metropolitan Athenagoras of Belgium, Exarch of the Ecumenical Patriarchate, on September 9 in Brussels to discuss cooperation opportunities and the possible participation of the Ecumenical Patriarchate in the European and international activities of the Forum.
The meeting was attended by Professor Cole Durham, President of the G20 Interfaith Forum, Mrs. Nicole Sterling, Vice-President of the Stirling Foundation and member of the Executive Board of the G20 Interfaith Forum, Dr. Elizabeta Kitanovic, Managing Director of the Human Rights Institute Facta est Lux, and Professor Dr. Rik Torfs, Chancellor Emeritus of the Catholic University of Leuven (KU Leuven).
Discussions focused in particular on developing a stronger European dimension of the G20 Interfaith Forum's activities, including structured cooperation with European institutions, faith-based organizations, civil society and other relevant actors.
