From Tabor to Golgotha: The Transfiguration of Christ and the Mystery of the Precious Cross

At the center of the feast of the Transfiguration of the Savior stands the miracle of Tabor: Christ ascends the mountain together with His three disciples, Peter, James, and John, and there He reveals the glory of His divinity. His face shines “like the sun,” and His garments become “white as the light”; beside Him appear Moses and Elijah, while the voice of the Father bears witness: “This is My beloved Son; listen to Him.”

Yet the Transfiguration is not simply a manifestation of light. The Church experiences it as a feast deeply connected with the Passion, the Cross, and the Resurrection. Tabor cannot be separated from Golgotha. The light of the Transfiguration does not abolish the Cross, but interprets it. And the Cross does not negate glory, but reveals the way in which divine glory enters human history: through love, humility, obedience, and sacrifice.

The Liturgical Connection Between Two Feasts
