European Orthodox pilgrims praise the revival of the Orthodox Church of Albania

Orthodox faithful from several European countries recently visited Tirana, where they witnessed firsthand the remarkable revival and renewal achieved by the Orthodox Autocephalous Church of Albania over the past 35 years.

During their stay, the visitors toured churches and ecclesiastical institutions belonging to the Archdiocese of Tirana, as well as various Metropolises throughout Albania. They were also received by Archbishop Ioannis of Albania, who warmly hosted the delegation.

The meeting with Archbishop Ioannis focused on matters of deep spiritual significance. Discussions centered on peace, justice, and cooperation among peoples—fundamental values and aspirations of the Orthodox Christian faith. Participants exchanged views on the challenges facing contemporary societies and the role of the Church in promoting reconciliation and mutual understanding.

Particular attention was given to Albania’s model of interreligious coexistence, which has become widely recognized as an example of harmony and mutual respect among different faith communities.
