A regular meeting of the Inter-Council Presence commission on issues of organizing the life of monasteries and monasticism took place

On September 3, a regular meeting of the commission of the Inter-Council Presence of the Russian Orthodox Church on issues of organizing the life of monasteries and monasticism took place. The communication took place in the format of a video conference. From the Nizhny Novgorod diocesan administration, the meeting was chaired by the chairman of the commission, Metropolitan Georgy of Nizhny Novgorod and Arzamas.

At the beginning of the meeting, he announced that in order to continue preparing the document “On the participation of monastics in social networks,” it was necessary to form a new working group.

The head of the Nizhny Novgorod Metropolis invited the commission members to resume work on the document “The relationship of monastic inhabitants with the outside world in the light of monastic vows.” This initiative was supported by the meeting participants.

Good that they've taken up the document on monks and social media again. Interesting to see what they'll end up writing—strict rules are needed there, otherwise some monks have completely lost themselves in likes. And the second document on the external world and vows has long been overdue for an update.

Good thing they resumed work on the document about monks and social media. I also read how some monks post all kinds of pictures and get dozens of likes, as if they were stars, not people of prayer. Let's see what clear rules they will put in the end, that they are needed.
