It is interesting that exactly July 4 was celebrated, because in the calendar his memory is July 2 according to the new style. In Augsburg, they probably ruled according to the old style? I would like to read who exactly served.

Interesting, yes. Here in Podgorica, St. John of Shanghai is celebrated on July 2 in a new style, so I also wondered why on July 4. They probably served according to the old Augsburg calendar, as Maximus says. It would be good if someone wrote who served.

Yes, the ROCOR really often adheres to the Julian calendar, so July 4 according to the new style could be just in time for the saint's day. I wonder if the bishop was there, or only local priests. Did someone you know serve in Augsburg?

In Augsburg, they certainly served according to the Julian calendar, so July 4 according to the new style was June 21 according to the old, which falls exactly on the day of St. John. Here in Kragujevac, we keep a new calendar, so we celebrate July 2. It would be interesting to find out who was at the Liturgy, whether a bishop or just a parish priest was coming.

Yeah, I noticed that 4th of July date too. In 2026 it falls on a Saturday, so they probably moved the service from July 2nd (according to the new style) to accommodate more people, not necessarily because of the old calendar. It would be interesting to find out who served at Augsburg though.

Yes, I also thought at first that it was Julian. In Niš, we also celebrate July 2 according to the new way, so it was strange to me that it is four days later in their place. Do you perhaps know if one of the bishops came to glory in Podgorica as well, or was he just a parish priest?
