The City Hall of the Capital will start the work to secure and preserve the Curtea Veche monument complex, the place around which Bucharest was born.

The intervention, announced by the municipality on Sunday, on the day of the 567th anniversary of the first documentary attestation of the city, aims to stop the degradation of the site and protect the historical vestiges.

Interventions to protect the monument According to a post published on the Facebook page of Bucharest City Hall, the works will last three months. At this stage, the actual restoration is not planned, but the preservation and protection of the ensemble.

The roofs will be repaired and restored, and the walls, vaults and other surfaces exposed to the weather will benefit from protective measures. At the same time, a temporary roof will be built to allow the continuation of archaeological research.

"The intervention is essential to stop the structural degradation and protect the historical masonry against the weather", the representatives of the Bucharest City Hall said.
