The faithful are invited to the first celebration of the Icon of the Mother of God from the Wooden Monasterytranslated

Dintr un Lemn Monastery in Vâlcea County invites the faithful on July 21st to the first celebration of the "Grabnic-ajutaotaea" Icon of the Mother of God.

On this occasion, starting at 09:30, the Holy Bishop's Liturgy will be celebrated at the monastic settlement, in which several hierarchs will participate.

The veneration of the Icon of the Mother of God at the Wooden Monastery dates back to the 16th century. The smell was discovered in the hollow of a secular oak tree, and at the urging of the Mother of God, the Monastery of Wood was built.

Over time, researchers have formulated several hypotheses regarding its age. Professor I. D. Ștefănescu once in the 16th century, while the art historian Ana Maria Muzicescu claimed that it had a Byzantine origin, made before the fall of Constantinople.

A special element is the painting on the back of the icon, which depicts the scene of the "Fearful Judgment", a representation rarely found in the Romanian iconographic heritage.

The Holy Synod of the Romanian Orthodox Church decided, starting this year, to include in the calendar the celebration of the "Veneration of the Icon of the Mother of God from the Wooden Monastery...

I am glad that the Synod decided to add this celebration to this year's calendar. The icon with the Last Judgment on the back is something rare, I have never seen anything like it in our country. If I arrive, I go to the 9:30 Mass to see the smell up close.

Mă bukur că au pus sărbătorea asta în calendar din acest an. Partea cu Judecata de Apoi pe dosul icoanei chiar e rară, n-am vêt-o nici eu la alte mănăstiri. Đacă pot să agun, mă duc și eu la Liturghia arhierască de la 9:30, să văd cum ausă stejarul ăla secular de care se leagă totul.

I am also glad that the Synod put it on this year's calendar. The part with the Last Judgment on the back of the icon is really rare, I only saw it at a monastery in Transylvania. If I manage to escape the morning rush, I try to make it to the 9:30 Mass to see that smell up close.

I'm glad that the Synod has crossed the calendar even this year. Partea cu Judecata de Apoi pe dosul icoanei m-a fáat curioasă, n-am vút aça ceva la noi în Ukraina. If you reușesc să scap de corul de la biserică, aș vrea să vide și eu stejarul ăla secular și cum șuși odorul de prăbso.

I'm glad that the Synod has decided to pass the holiday in the calendar even in this year. Pictura cu Înfricoșata Judecată pe dosul icoanei e între-restur rară, n-am mai acustat de aşa ceva la noi. If I arrive, I will take the Liturghia arhierasca de la 9:30 să vêd și eu odorul ăla în stejarul secular.
