Conference in Chisinau: Spiritual life in the family - the antidote to modern diseasestranslated

September 7, 2026 · 1 min read

The "Saint Hierarch Grigorie Palama" parish in Chisinau, pastored by father Nicolae Crețu, hosted on Sunday, after the Holy Liturgy, a meeting with the theme "Spiritual life in the family - the sure path to the Kingdom of Heaven in today's world! Spiritual life in the family - the antidote to the diseases of the modern world".

The theme brought into focus one of the most important and current problems of society: preserving the Christian family as a space of love, sacrifice, education and spiritual growth, despite all the challenges. The special guest of the event was Father Bogdan Frăsilă from the "Adormirea Maicii Domnului" Parish - Podoleni, Neamț County.

The guest has rich pastoral and missionary experience as a former missionary inspector of the Archdiocese of Iași and former dean of Roznov, and currently he is concerned with the problem of addictions and counseling couples and families.

It is interesting that Father Bogdan specifically deals with addictions and helping families. Here in Rostov, many young couples also face this, especially with the telephone and the Internet, which replace face-to-face communication. How exactly does he advise starting a spiritual life in a family if one of the spouses does not yet go to church?

Father Bogdan is right that he started with addictions. In our Sunday school, we also notice how the telephone takes away the last minutes together from parents and children. I wonder what he specifically advises when only one spouse wants to start a spiritual life, but the other does not yet? Svetlana, you are right, this is a very common story.

And I think phone and internet addictions are one of the biggest "diseases" today. As a bus driver, I see young people on the bus not looking up from the screen instead of talking to the person next to them. I am interested in exactly how Father Bogdan advises when only one of the spouses wants to start a spiritual life, and the other is not yet ready - this is often the case here.

I agree with those who say that cell phones and the internet are among the biggest "diseases" today. Here in Larissa I see the same in school children – they sit next to each other but only look at the screen. I would like to know specifically what Father Bogdan says when only one spouse wants to start spiritual life and the other does not.
