The community of Târgu Jiu is invited to read around the Table of Silence in memory of Constantin Brâncusitranslated

The community of Târgu Jiu is invited to read around the Table of Silence on September 12, in an initiative dedicated to Constantin Brâncusi.

According to a press release sent by Cărturești Bookstore, the action will take place between 4:00 p.m. and 6:00 p.m. as part of the "Movement for Reading" national tour.

Participants are invited to a silent reading session for 40 minutes, where each person will be able to read from their own book. The actress Maia Morgenstern will then hold a dialogue with those present about reading and its role in everyday life.

Roxana Tănăsachi, Cărtureşti Corporate Affairs Manager, emphasized the importance of the moment within the Constantin Brâncusi Year: "We are offering the community of Târgu Jiu a unique experience and a setting where silence finds its place. Cărtureşti chooses to honor his work with a simple gesture, but with strong symbolism: the silence and closeness created around a book".

"We want to show that reading can take place anytime and anywhere. Thus, we hope to inspire the local community and establish a new social and relational benchmark that the people of Târgu Jiu will continue to follow in the future," she added.…

Good initiative, especially since they choose to do this exactly at Brâncusi's Table of Silence. Sounds about right to me – 40 minutes of quiet reading, no phones, sounds restful. What book will Maia Morgenstern bring herself?
