The meeting focused on the current developments of religious life in Romania, the institutional framework for protecting freedom of religion or belief and the dialogue between public authorities and religious communities.
The discussions also covered the religious situation in the region, with an emphasis on Ukraine and the Republic of Moldova. According to the State Secretariat for Religions, the current geopolitical context makes the protection of religious freedom and the preservation of confessional peace of greater importance.
"During the meeting, it was emphasized that religious freedom is a fundamental human right and one of the essential conditions of a democratic society. This right cannot be considered definitively guaranteed, but must be permanently defended through solid institutions, balanced legislation and the assumption of a firm position whenever it is violated."
