Catholic entrepreneur launches free library of hand-designed Christian internet icons

Catholic digital entrepreneur Dimitri Conejo launched Christicons.com , a free library offering over 60 icons featuring “professional and consistent iconography” for use by Christian faith-based initiatives.

The available icons include fundamental Christian elements such as the cross and the Bible as well as liturgical references such as a chalice, a host, and an altar.

The library also includes imagery related to Jesus’ parables: wheat, fishing nets, and fish. It also has sacramental or devotional symbols such as a rosary and the Sacred Heart, and items linked to the sacraments or liturgical vestments, including a stole, a confessional, a clerical collar, and a mitre, among others.

As stated in a press release: “Christicons fills a gap that any designer or developer who has worked for a parish, a devotional app, or a publisher of religious books knows firsthand: There is a lack of high-quality, consistent, and free-to-use SVG [scalable vector graphics] icons that speak the visual language of the Christian world.”

The graphics scale to any size without losing quality and can be colored, resized, or modified with a single line of code.

It's a good initiative, Dimitri. I liked Mitra and Confessional, in our parish we often need such simple but quality SVGs for the site. I will copy it for myself.

This chalice and host are useful, especially if you want something neat on the page. Yesterday, in the garden, eating bread, I thought that such simple SVG files would also be useful for announcements about religious services. Let me know how the Christicons ones scale for you.

Yes, this chalice and host look really clean, without unnecessary decorations. Yesterday, when preparing parish announcements, I was missing something like this - a simple fish or a net from the parable. And if you like the ones with the miter, can they be easily changed in color in the code?

This initiative of Dimitri seems practical to me. We have been missing just such a good quality SVG library for the parish website, especially the cross, bible and chalice. I'll download a few and try them on Sunday's announcements.

Hi Nicholas, I also downloaded the cross and bible last night, put them on the choir website and they look clean, no pixelation at all. If you still use them on the announcement page, try the chalice as well, I colored it dark red and it looks nice next to the text about Holy Communion. Let me know what you think of them when you see them live.
