It was with deep sorrow that I received the news of the death of Alexander Serafimovich Yakobson.

On behalf of myself, the clergy and believers of the Gomel diocese, I express my sincere condolences to the family and friends of the deceased.

Many years of Alexander Serafimovich’s life and government activities were inextricably linked with the Gomel region. Heading the city of Gomel and the Gomel region, he made a significant contribution to the development of our region and earned the respect of people with a responsible attitude to the assigned work.

The Gomel diocese gratefully preserves the memory of his kind attitude towards the Orthodox Church, attention to church life and promotion of creative work for the benefit of the Gomel region.

I prayerfully ask the All-Merciful Lord to rest his soul in the villages of the righteous and grant him the Kingdom of Heaven.

I wish the family and friends of the deceased strength of soul and God's help in enduring the loss that has befallen them.
