Archbishop Sava celebrated the Divine Liturgy on the 14th Sunday after Pentecosttranslated

September 6, 2026 · 1 min read

On September 6, the 14th Sunday after Pentecost, the day of remembrance of St. Peter, Metropolitan of Kyiv, Moscow and All Rus', miracle worker, His Eminence Archbishop Savva of Tiraspol and Dubossary celebrated the Divine Liturgy in the Cathedral of the Nativity of Christ. The clergy of the cathedral co-served with the Most Reverend Bishop during the service. On Sunday morning, under the arches of the main church of the Tiraspol-Dubossary diocese, numerous parishioners gathered to celebrate the Lord's Day in common prayer and partake of the Holy Mysteries of Christ. During the Divine Liturgy, the Gospel Conception from Matthew (Matthew 22:1-14) was read, telling the parable of the Lord Jesus Christ about those invited to the wedding feast. In it, the Savior reminds us of man’s calling to the Kingdom of God and of our responsibility for how exactly we respond to this God’s call in our daily lives. After the dismissal of the Divine Liturgy, glorification was performed before the locally revered image of the Most Holy Theotokos “Seeking the Lost” of Tiraspol.

The archpastor, together with the clergy and pilgrims, offered prayers to the Queen of Heaven, asking for Her mercy and intercession. At the end of the prayers, His Eminence...

Thank you for writing about this service. The parable of those invited to a feast always touches me - especially the words about the one who came without a wedding garment. Our cathedral is also often crowded on Sundays, but every time you think: how did I respond to the invitation? It’s good that Bishop Savva served and prayed before the “Recovery of the Lost.”

Thank you for reminding me about this service. The parable about those invited to a feast truly penetrates - especially about the man without a wedding garment, you immediately think in what way I myself stand before God. In Minsk, too, after the liturgy we often pray before “Seeking the Lost,” the icon helps a lot. It’s good that Vladyka Savva served.

Thank you, Anton, for writing. I, too, am always fascinated by the moment with the one without wedding clothes - as if the Lord was talking directly about us, ordinary parishioners, who sometimes just came out of habit. It also happens here in Rostov when fishing: you sit and wonder in your head whether you’ve dressed correctly for such a “feast”. Do you often go to your cathedral on Sundays or more on holidays?

Thank you, Gregory, for sharing. In this parable, it is also the clothes that always touch me - as if we sometimes go to church “out of habit,” but it’s empty inside. In Tiraspol, after the service, we often stay for tea in the refectory, and there we can see who really came “in the wedding garment” of the heart. Which church do you go to most often in Rostov?
