Archbishop Calinic of Suceva and Rădății urged to acquire inner peace through prayer and faithtranslated

His Holiness Father Calinic, the Archbishop of Suceava and Rădăuțil, urged on Sunday to acquire inner peace through prayer, humility and faith.

The hierarch celebrated the Holy Liturgy on a podium set up near the Suceava Cathedral, where the relics of the Holy Great Martyr John the New are located.

In the sermon, Archid. Marius-Gabriel Filip, director of the Center for Continuous Formation and Specialization within the Educational-Theological Sector of the Archdiocese of Suceva and Rădăuțil, urged the faithful to stay close to Christ and the Church and respond to evil with love.

Face life with joy At the end of the Holy Liturgy, IPS Calinic spoke about Saint Seraphim of Sarov, commemorated on the day of the discovery of his holy relics.

The hierarch recalled some milestones in the life of the saint and presented the Decalogue at the celebration of Saint Seraphim of Sarov:

"Seek to dwell the Holy Spirit in your heart through prayer, fasting, vigil, almsgiving and obedience. For true theology is hidden in self-abasement. Meet every hour of your life with the joy of the Resurrection. Like Seraphim with the paschal greeting Christ is risen, my joy, …

That part about greeting every hour of the day with the joy of the Resurrection really stuck with me. I’ve been trying to say “Christ is risen!” more often like St Seraphim, even on ordinary weekdays when the kids are fighting or the garden needs weeding. It changes the whole tone of the afternoon. That's right, Elizabeth. And that exhortation with "meet every hour of your life with the joy of the Resurrection" stuck in my head. Yesterday, when I argued with the neighbor about the crooked fence, I remembered Seraphim and said to him "Christ is risen" in my mind. It didn't fix the fence, but it calmed me down. Yes, Peter, I also remembered exactly the same exhortation with "the joy of the Resurrection". Last time, when I got angry in line at the bakery because the saleswoman messed up the rest, I thought to myself "Christ is risen" and it calmed me down. I think that's the hardest part – applying it right when the little everyday trouble hits you.

That "Christ is risen" greeting really does change the feel of the work, doesn't it? I started saying it quietly while mending the nets on the boat years ago and now it just slips out on its own. With the knitting, it took me a good two winters of doing it every evening before it stopped feeling like I was reminding myself and became as natural as breathing.
