ACT Alliance calls for solidarity, support after visiting earthquake-torn Colombia, Venezuela

Rudelmar Bueno de Faria, general secretary of the ACT Alliance, recently visited Colombia and Venezuela in the wake of earthquakes in both countries. He reflects on the humanitarian work—and why communities are ready to lead it.

What was the purpose of your visits?

Bueno de Fari a: The purpose was not only to express solidarity, but to understand how the response is unfolding in practice: where ACT members are adding value, where important gaps remain, and what these emergencies tell us about localization, community-led humanitarian action and the changing international humanitarian system.

Díky za článek. Zajímavé, jak Rudelmar Bueno de Faria zdůrazňuje, že místní partneři ACT dokážou oslovit komunity, kam se velké organizace nedostanou – to mi připomíná, jak to funguje i u nás při povodních. Doufám, že ta lokalizace opravdu zůstane prioritou a nepřejde jen do hesel.

Souhlasím, Václav, u nás na severu to bylo podobné při těch velkých povodních před lety – místní hasiči a farníci dorazili do zatopených chalup dřív než velké týmy z Prahy. Je fajn, když se ty peníze a pomoc opravdu dostanou přímo k lidem v terénu. Myslíš, že by se u nás v Česku dalo něco podobného víc prosazovat i v církevních sbírkách?
