On the feast of the Transfiguration of the Lord God and our Savior Jesus Christ, Metropolitan Joseph of Ivanovo-Voznesensk and Vichuga visited the palliative department - the Shuya branch of the St. Alexy Hospital on the basis of the Shuya Central Regional Hospital. He was met by the head of the branch, the chief physician of the hospital E.V. Kuzmina. The archpastor performed a prayer service for the sick and anointed them with blessed oil. The Bishop visited all the wards, presented gifts and blessed apples to the staff and patients of the department. The choir of Orthodox volunteers of the Ivanovo Metropolis sang “Rejoice” at the prayer service.

The Shuya branch of the St. Alexy Hospital is organized on the basis of the Shuya Central District Hospital. It provides medical care and care to people who are sick with severe progressive diseases (including terminal stage of oncology, consequences of severe strokes and injuries). The goal of palliative care is to relieve pain and other distressing symptoms and improve the quality of life of patients. Opened December 7, 2020.
