The old prayer room is open for the evening prayers, and the candle casts a gentle light precisely on the letters. It is pleasant to imagine someone reading it slowly in silence.

Candlelight burns quietly in the church. There's something simple and profound about seeing only these little flames in the semi-darkness.

The Bulgarian Orthodox Church has announced a full calendar of cultural and spiritual events for November in Kotel municipality. The program opens with the “Wisdom of God” festival at the Church of St Sophia, followed by lectures on local saints, icon exhibitions, choral performances, and guided visits to historic monasteries nearby. Meanwhile the Church of Greece saw the Monastery of Agios Stefanos in Meteora deliver practical aid to the Kalambaka Health Center, stocking medical supplies and offering volunteer hours. In the United States the Orthodox Church in America marked the 115th anniversary of St Mary Parish in Chicago with a week of services and community meals. The Serbian Orthodox Church reported Metropolitan Dimitrije serving in Trebinje, where large crowds joined the festal liturgy and procession. These varied activities show how parishes and monasteries keep blending worship with everyday care and local heritage. What similar events are taking place in your own parish this month?
The Serbian Orthodox Church marked the feast of St. Artemius with Metropolitan Joanikije serving the Divine Liturgy at Beska monastery, drawing clergy and faithful from surrounding parishes for the celebration. At the same time the Romanian Orthodox Church saw Polish bishops speaking out in defense of religious education as school curricula face revisions, while the Ecumenical Patriarchate’s Metropolis of Boston welcomed the Doxologia Choir for a special program of sacred music. In the Orthodox Church in America, St. Mary Parish in Chicago observed its 115th anniversary with services and a community meal that recalled its founding families. These distinct moments show how each local Church keeps the rhythm of the liturgical year and the life of its people. May all these communities be remembered in prayer.
The Antiochian evening of hymns in Zahle blended Russian choral traditions with local Levantine voices, drawing a full house to the old cathedral hall. Metropolitan Anthony of Volokolamsk, visiting from Moscow, later served the festal Divine Liturgy at Beirut’s Church of the Annunciation, where the same Russian repertoire appeared in the responses. In Bulgaria the “Wisdom of God” festival opened inside Sofia’s historic Church of Saint Sophia with similar emphasis on ancient hymnody. Meanwhile the Serbian Orthodox Church saw Metropolitan Dimitrije lead services in Trebinje that concluded with a sung canon rooted in the same Slavic heritage. These gatherings show how one musical language still travels easily across jurisdictions. The Romanian Orthodox Church added its own note when Bishop Iachint reminded parishes to pair such beauty with concrete compassion for the suffering. Quiet work like this keeps the shared inheritance alive without fanfare. May the parishes of Antioch, Moscow, Bulgaria, and Serbia sing with one heart in the coming feasts.
