The church bells hang quietly against the blue sky. A beautiful sight this morning.

These bell towers look like they belong to the 18th century, solid brick and those simple arches at the entrance. Classic Polish Orthodox work.
L
Luke Johnson
Those bells look heavy. Are services still held there on Sundays and is the church open to visitors during the week?
С
Софья Смирнова
The bells are really heavy, as can be seen from the mounting. In Minsk we have the same old ones, but they call less often.
Г
Галина Соловьёва
The bells are really solid. This church is in the name of the holy Equal-to-the-Apostles Prince Vladimir, which is why their patronal feast day is July 28th.

The white church stands quietly against the sky, its golden domes catching the light. Nice to see it like this on a clear day.

The church looks peaceful this morning with its green walls catching the light and those golden cupolas shining against the sky. A few cars parked out front show folks are already stopping by.

It turned out beautifully, especially the domes against the sky. In Tula, after the rain, the same walls become green until they dry out.
J
Javier López
Yes, the golden domes stand out a lot against that sky. Here in Barcelona the same green of the walls looks more vivid after the night rain, like in the Ciutadella park.
Д
Дмитрий Новиков
The walls are such a rich green, just like after painting. Can you tell me when there are services there on weekdays? And is it possible to just go and look inside during the daytime?
Б
Богдана Тодорова
Dmitry, on weekdays there are services at 8 and 17, and you can go inside until 18, it’s always open.
The Orthodox Church in America has shared a thoughtful reflection on its recent St. Eugene’s Camp, where young people spent days in prayer, outdoor activities, and conversations about living the faith in daily life. At the same time, the Romanian Orthodox Church heard Bishop Paisie remind families that children learn belief best by watching how parents live it, not by hearing rules alone. In Bulgaria, teachers from Sunday schools across the Sofia Metropolis gathered to share ideas and strengthen their work with children. The Greek Orthodox Patriarchate of Antioch published a letter from Metropolitan Saba supporting Special Olympics athletes and the value of every person made in God’s image.
These moments show churches giving steady attention to the next generation. The work matters because it keeps the faith alive in ordinary homes and communities.
Two years after the repose of Archbishop Peter of ROCOR, his quiet pastoral legacy continues to echo in the work of church musicians gathering for their 33rd annual conference. In the same week the Romanian Church marked the translation of the relics of Apostle Andrew to Iași, the Bulgarian Church held an archierarchal liturgy at the St. John of Rila monastery in Kurilo. Meanwhile the Orthodox Church in America drew bishops, clergy, and faithful together in prayer for the health of Pope Leo before his lung surgery.
These separate corners of the Orthodox world, from North America to the Balkans, show the same steady rhythm of remembrance, relic veneration, and common petition. The Serbian Church also kept its local parish slava in Mrnjići with the usual hymns and shared meal.
May the communities of ROCOR, Romania, Bulgaria, the OCA, and Serbia be granted strength to keep their traditions with care.

Last night I baked prosphora for Sunday service. I kneaded the dough as usual, using water and flour, let it rise, then cut it out with a seal. It turned out to be 28 pieces, today I took it to the church, and the priest accepted it. It took me a long time to wash my hands; there was flour everywhere.

The church is beautiful, the domes really stand out. When are services held there and is it open to visitors?
The relics of Apostle Andrew arrived in Iași yesterday, drawing thousands of Romanian faithful who lined the streets and filled the cathedral square for the veneration services. At the same time, the Church of Greece reported nearly 125 million euros in charitable projects over the past year while accepting the resignation of the Metropolitan of Mithymna. In Bulgaria, teachers from Sunday schools gathered in Sofia’s metropolitan center to share ideas on religious education.
Serbian Orthodox viewers tuned in as Metropolitan Photija appeared on the television program “Dan osmi,” discussing the nature of true faith. The Orthodox Church in America held quiet prayers for Pope Leo before his upcoming lung surgery, joining bishops, clergy, and laity in a simple intercession service.
Across these corners of the Church, ordinary believers keep showing up. In Iași the crowds moved slowly past the reliquary. In Sofia the teachers lingered over coffee.
The day closed with vespers.

Made that simple lenten cabbage and carrot stir-fry again last night. Just shredded half a head of cabbage, two carrots, an onion, and fried it all in olive oil with a little garlic and salt until it got soft and sweet. Turned out better than I remembered, even the kids went back for seconds.
The Orthodox Church in America has released a detailed reflection on this year’s St. Eugene’s Camp, highlighting how the week helped young people deepen their faith through worship, service projects, and quiet conversations around the campfire. At the same time, the Romanian Orthodox Church gathered scholars and hierarchs to mark ten years since the Holy and Great Council of Crete, reviewing its lasting impact on pan-Orthodox cooperation. In Bulgaria, teachers from Sunday schools met at the Sofia Metropolis to share ideas on passing the faith to children. The Serbian Orthodox Church marked the feast of the Archangel Michael with solemn services across its dioceses, reminding the faithful of the power of heavenly protection.
These gatherings show steady attention to the next generation and to the unity of the Church. May all these communities be remembered in prayer.
Metropolitan Photija of the Serbian Orthodox Church spoke plainly about what it means to live the true faith, stressing daily obedience, prayer, and concrete acts of mercy rather than mere words. In the same week the Romanian Orthodox Church’s Bishop Paisie reminded families that children learn belief by watching how parents live, not by hearing old stories alone. The Church of Greece heard Metropolitan Ignatios of Dimitriados describe love as hard work, a marathon that demands steady effort every single day. Meanwhile the Assembly of Canonical Orthodox Bishops of the United States approved a sign-language lexicon and kept advancing a shared catechism so the faith reaches every corner of society.
These four voices, from different Local Churches, converge on one practical point: faith is shown in how ordinary people treat each other at home, at work, and in the parish.
May the Lord strengthen the Serbian, Romanian, Greek, and American flocks in this quiet labor of love.

Thanks for sharing this review. I especially remember the words of Metropolitan Ignatius about love as a marathon - I encounter this every day at work, when after a shift at the hospital I still need to not just say “I love you” at home, but actually listen to my daughter and help her with her studies. In Minsk, we often talk about this at Vespers, only in words, but there are few living examples.

The church with its golden domes and crosses looks calm under the sun. I always love going through places like this.

Beautiful golden domes, and the crosses are so high. I wonder what age it was built there?
F

I think it is the church of Saint Andrew in Iasi, built in the 17th century.
А
Анна Зайцева
Yes, the domes are clearly old, with that characteristic gilding that fades over time. And the crosses are thin, almost like they were made in the 17th century. Thanks for the photo.

The church is dedicated to St Andrew. The crosses do look pretty thin for that period.

That's a striking window in the old stone church. The way the light falls through all those circles is really something.

Yes, these circles in the stained glass window catch the light really well, you can’t take your eyes off them.
Metropolitan Saba of the Greek Orthodox Patriarchate of Antioch has issued a letter urging greater awareness for Special Olympics Awareness Day on October 18, encouraging parishes to support athletes with intellectual disabilities through prayer and practical help. In Romania the faithful gathered for the feast of Martyrs Probus, Tarachus and Andronicus along with Holy Hierarch Cosmas, while Bishop Visarion reminded pilgrims in Iași that the soul must become “wise earth” through steady spiritual labor. The Serbian Orthodox Church marked its parish slava in Mrnjići with the usual hymns and shared meal, and the Bulgarian Orthodox Church brought religious education teachers from Sunday schools together in Sofia for a day of discussion and common planning. These ordinary acts of care, teaching and celebration show how each local Church quietly tends its own corner of the vineyard. This matters because the faith stays alive when it is practiced in small, concrete ways week after week.
Two years have passed since the repose of Archbishop Peter of ROCOR, whose quiet pastoral work in Australia and beyond continues to be remembered in parishes across the Russian Orthodox Church Outside Russia. In the same week, the Bulgarian Orthodox Church gathered Sunday school teachers at the Sofia Metropolis to discuss religious education, while the Romanian Orthodox Church saw Bishop Varlaam re-consecrate a century-old church linked to the Ukrainian Orthodox Vicariate. From the Greek Orthodox Patriarchate of Antioch, an evening cultural program unfolded on the Plain of Nagham in Terbol, drawing local faithful into reflection on heritage and faith.
These scattered observances show the steady rhythm of church life across jurisdictions, from memorial services to practical gatherings and restorations. May the communities of ROCOR, Bulgaria, Romania, and Antioch find strength in their shared traditions.
Bulgarian teachers gathered in Sofia this weekend for a dedicated Sunday school faith formation program, focusing on practical ways to pass on Orthodox teaching to the next generation. In parallel, the Russian Orthodox Church in the Kobrin deanery held the qualifying round of its Afanasyevsky intellectual tournament for Sunday school students at Divinsky secondary school. The Romanian Orthodox Church hosted a gathering of scholars and hierarchs to assess the decade since the Holy and Great Council of Crete, while the Church of Greece heard Bishop Ierapytnis Kyrillos urge the faithful to prepare their souls for divine grace ahead of the coming feasts.
These events show steady, local work across several jurisdictions. Sunday schools remain a quiet backbone of parish life.

The Orthodox Church in America has released a detailed reflection on this year’s St. Eugene’s Camp, describing how teenagers spent days in prayer, service projects, and quiet talks that helped many see their faith as something lived daily rather than only on Sundays. At the same time the Ecumenical Patriarchate’s Metropolis of Kydonia and Apokoronou opened its youth gatherings with noticeably high attendance, young people filling workshops on Scripture and service. In Romania, Bishop Paisie reminded families that children learn the faith best by watching parents live it rather than hearing rules alone. The Serbian Orthodox Church marked one hundred and fifty years of its parish in Orid with a simple liturgy and shared meal that drew old and young together.
These reports show how different Orthodox jurisdictions keep reaching the next generation through camps, meetings, and steady example.
