(Holiday August 15)

At Christmas you preserved your virginity, / in the Dormition you did not abandon the world, O Mother of God: / you reposed to the belly, Mother of the Being of the Belly, // and through your prayers you delivered from the death of the soul ours.

In Russian

Mother of God! You preserved your virginity at birth, You did not leave the world after your dormition; You have passed on to eternal life, being the Mother of Life (our Lord Jesus Christ), and with Your prayers you deliver our souls from death.

Dormition - peaceful death. Resignation is movement; the death of a Christian as a transition from the temporary to the eternal. The belly is life.

This troparion proclaims that the Most Holy Virgin Mary is close to us even after Her repose into heaven. Staying in heaven, She, as the Mother of God, with Her prayers before God delivers our souls from death.
