(Holiday August 6)

Thou art transfigured on the mountain, O Christ God, / showing to Thy disciples Thy glory, / like man: / may Thy ever-present light shine upon us sinners, / through the prayers of the Mother of God, // Light-giver, glory to You.

In Russian

Christ God, You were transfigured on the mountain, showing Your disciples Your glory as far as they could (see it). Through the prayers of the Mother of God, may Your eternal light shine upon us sinners. Giver of light, glory to Thee.

Transformed - took on a different appearance, changed. Like a mozhahu - as best they could. Everlasting - eternal.

What is this troparion about?

The fact that Jesus Christ was transfigured on the mountain, and thereby showed His glory to His disciples. And we ask that through the prayers of the Most Holy Theotokos, the Divine light will enlighten us too.
