Volume 2 The collection includes reports presented at the X anniversary Theophan readings, dedicated to the study of the spiritual and theological heritage of St. Theophan, the Recluse of Vyshensky. The anniversary Feofan readings were held on October 11, 2017 in Moscow at the Publishing Council of the Russian Orthodox Church, and on November 28, 2016 at the Dormition Vyshensky Monastery. Also published are selected reports that were delivered on January 26, 2017 within the framework of the XXV International Christmas educational readings at the seminar of students of spiritual and secular higher educational institutions “Spiritual Heritage of St. Theophan the Recluse”, reports at the scientific conference “The Life and Works of St. Theophan the Recluse - in History and Modernity”, which was held on June 16, 2017 in Moscow in the Publishing House Council of the Russian Orthodox Church, as well as reports presented at the conference “The Legacy of St. Theophan the Recluse and the Spiritual Development of Society” on June 22, 2017 in Tambov. On October 11, 2017 in Moscow at the Publishing Council of the Russian Orthodox Church and on November 28, 2016 at the Assumption Vyshensky Monastery, the anniversary X Feofan readings were held, dedicated to the study of the spiritual and theological heritage of St. Theophan, the Recluse of Vyshensky. The Feofanovsky readings were first held in 2007, and from that time on they became annual. At the third Theophan readings, held at the Dormition Vyshensky Monastery in 2009, an “Address to His Holiness Patriarch Kirill of Moscow and All Rus'” was adopted, which, in particular, spoke of the need for a comprehensive program to prepare for the celebration of the 200th anniversary of the birth of the saint and the announcement of 2015 as the year of St. Theophan, the Recluse of Vyshensky. One of the main provisions of the program for preparing anniversary events is preparation for the publication of the Complete Collection of the Works of St. Theophan. This initiative was supported by the Publishing Council of the Russian Orthodox Church at a meeting on May 27, 2010 and received the blessing of His Holiness Patriarch Kirill of Moscow and All Rus'. Since 2010, the Publishing Council of the Russian Orthodox Church and the Scientific Editorial Council for the publication of the Complete Works of St. Theophan, the Recluse of Vyshensky, have been co-organizers of the Readings. Bishops of the Russian Orthodox Church, clergy, officials, scientists and students of secular and religious educational institutions take part in the work of Theophan’s readings and conferences. Among the speakers there are regular participants, but every year the list of participants expands, new researchers appear who devote their works to studying the spiritual heritage of the Vyshensky ascetic. The Assumption Vyshensky Monastery has prepared for publication collections of reports based on the results of the Feofanov Readings, which took place in 2009–2016. This anniversary edition continues the publication of scientific reports presented as part of the X Feofanov Readings. The reports were promptly posted on the website of the Assumption Vyshensky Monastery (www.svtheofan.ru), on the website of the Publishing Council of the Russian Orthodox Church (www.izdatsovet.ru), as well as on the website of the Scientific Editorial Council for the publication of the works of St. Theophanica (www.theophanica.ru).
