Святое Евангелие Иисуса Христа по Иоанну

Machine translation from the original · Show original
1) In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and God was the Word. 2) This was with God in the beginning. 3) All things were created through Him, and without Him nothing was created that was made. 4) In Him was life, and life was the light of men: 5) and the light shines in the darkness, and the darkness did not overcome it. 6) There was a man sent from God; whose name was John. 7) He came for testimony, to testify about the Light, so that all would believe through him. 8) He was not light, but [was sent] to testify about the Light. 9) There was the true Light, which enlightens every person coming into this world. 10) He was in the world, and the world was created through Him, and the world did not know Him. 11) He came to his own, and his own did not receive Him. 12) As far as anyone received Him, He gave them the power to become children of God - to those who believe in His name, 13) who were born neither of blood, nor of the will of the flesh, nor of the will of man, but of God. 14) And the Word became flesh and dwelt among us (and we saw His glory, the glory as of the only begotten from the Father), full of grace and truth. 15) John testifies of Him and exclaims, saying: “This was He of whom I said that He who came after me stood before me, because He was before me. 16) And from His fullness we have all received, and grace for grace.” 17) For the law was given through Moses; grace and truth became available through Jesus Christ. 18) No one has ever seen God; The Only Begotten Son, existing in the bosom of the Father, He Himself told. 19) And this is the testimony of John, when the Jews sent priests and Levites to him from Jerusalem to ask him: “Who are you?” 20) And he confessed, and did not deny, and confessed: “After all, I am not the Christ.” 21) And they asked him: “What then? Are you Elijah? He said, "Not me." “Are you a prophet?” He answered: “No.” 22) They said to him: “Who are you, that we should give an answer to those who sent us: what do you say about yourself?” 23) He said: “I am the voice of one crying in the wilderness: make straight the way of the Lord” (Is. 40:3; Mal. 3:1), as the prophet Isaiah said.” 24) And those who were sent were from the Pharisees. 25) And they asked him and said to him: “Why are you baptizing, if you are neither Christ, nor Elijah, nor a prophet?” 26) John answered them, saying: “I baptize in water; stands in the midst of you, whom you do not know. 27) He is the one coming after me, who became before me. Whose sandal strap I am not worthy to untie.” 28) This happened at Bethabara beyond the Jordan, where John was baptizing. 29) The next day John sees Jesus coming to him and says: “Behold, the Lamb of God; Behold, who takes away the sin of the world. 30) This is the one about whom I said: “A man comes after me, who stood before me, for He was before me.” 31) And I did not know Him; but that He might be manifested in Israel, for this reason I came to baptize in water.” 32) And John testified, saying: “For I saw the Spirit descending from heaven like a dove, and it remained on him. 33) And I did not know Him; but He who sent me to baptize in water said to me: “On whom you see the Spirit descending and remaining on Him, this is the one who baptizes with the Holy Spirit.” 34) And I saw and testified that this is the Son of God.” 35) The next day John and two of his disciples stood again. 36) And when he saw Jesus coming, he said, “Behold, the Lamb of God.” 37) And the two disciples heard what he said, and they followed Jesus. 38) Jesus turned and saw them coming and said to them, “What are you looking for?” They said to Him: “Rabbi,” which translated means “teacher,” “Where do you live?” 39) He says to them: “Come and see.” They went and saw where He lived; and they stayed with Him that day. It was about ten o'clock. 40) Now there was Andrew, the brother of Simon Peter, one of the two who heard from John about Jesus and followed Him. 41) He is the first to find his brother Simon and says to him: “We have found the Messiah,” which means “Christ”; 42) and brought him to Jesus. Jesus, looking at him, said: “You are Simon, son of Jonah; you will be called Cephas, which means Peter /Stone/.” 43) The next day He wanted to go to Galilee, and found Philip. And Jesus said to him: “Follow Me.” 44) Philip was from Bethsaida, from the same city as Andrew and Peter. 45) Philip finds Nathanael and says to him: “[Him] about whom Moses in the Law and the prophets wrote, we have found - Jesus, the son of Joseph, of Nazareth.” 46) And Nathanael said to him: “Can anything good come from Nazareth?” Philip tells him: “Come and look.” 47) Jesus saw Nathanael coming to Him and said of him: “This is truly an Israelite, in whom there is no guile.” 48) Nathanael says to Him: “How do You know me?” “Before Philip called you, when you were under the fig tree, I saw you.” 49) Nathanael answered Him: “Rabbi! You are the Son of God, You are the King of Israel!” 50) Jesus answers and says to him: “You believe, for I told you: “I saw you under the fig tree”; you will see more than this." 51) And he said to him: “Truly, truly, I say to you, you will see heaven open and the angels of God ascending and descending on the Son of Man.” 1) And on the third day there was a wedding in Cana of Galilee, and the Mother of Jesus was there. 2) Jesus and His disciples were also invited to the wedding. 3) And as there was a lack of wine, the Mother of Jesus said to Him: “They have no wine.” 4) And Jesus said to Her: “What do I and You have, Woman? My hour has not yet come.” 5) His Mother said to the servants: “Do whatever He tells you.” 6) There were six stone waterpots, standing according to the custom of Jewish purification, containing two or three meters [metretas] each. 7) Jesus said to them: “Fill the waterpots with water.” And they filled them even to the brim. 8) And Jesus said to them: “Now take some and bring it to the master of the feast.” And they carried it. 9) When the steward tasted the water, which had become wine, and he did not know where it came from, the servants who scooped up the water knew; the steward calls the groom 10) and says to him: “Every person first serves good wine, and when they get drunk, then something worse; You’ve saved good wine even until now.” 11) Thus Jesus began the signs in Cana of Galilee and revealed His glory; and His disciples believed in Him. 12) After this He went down to Capernaum, Himself and His Mother, and His brothers, and His disciples; and they stayed there for a few days. 13) And the Passover of the Jews was approaching, and Jesus went up to Jerusalem, 14) and found in the church those selling oxen, sheep, and doves, and the money changers sitting. 15) And when he made something like a scourge out of ropes, he drove everyone out of the church, including the sheep and oxen; and he scattered the money changers and overturned the tables. 16) And he said to those selling doves: “Take this from here, and do not make My Father’s house a house of trade!” 17) At this, His disciples remembered that it was written: “Zeal for Your house consumes Me” (Ps. 68:10). 18) The Jews answered and said to Him: “By what sign will You prove to us that You are doing this [rightfully]?” 19) Jesus answered and said to them: “Destroy this church, and in three days I will raise it up.” 20) The Jews said: “It took forty-six years to build this church, and You will raise it up in three days?!” 21) He spoke about the church of His body. 22) When He rose from the dead, His disciples remembered that He had said these things, and they believed the Scripture and the word that Jesus had spoken. 23) When He was in Jerusalem at Passover, the feast day, many believed in His name, seeing His signs that He did. 24) Jesus Himself did not entrust Himself to them, since He Himself knew everyone, 25) and since He did not need anyone to testify about man, for He Himself knew what was in man. 1) Now there was a man among the Pharisees named Nicodemus, a prince of the Jews. 2) This man came to Jesus at night and said to Him: “Rabbi! We know that You are a teacher come from God; for no one can do such signs as You do unless God is with him.” 3) Jesus answered and said to him: “Truly, truly, I say to you, unless someone is born again, he cannot see the kingdom of God.” 4) Nicodemus said to Him: “How can a man be born when he is old? Can he really enter his mother’s womb another time and be reborn?” 5) Jesus answered: “Truly, truly, I say to you, unless someone is reborn of water and the Holy Spirit, he cannot enter the kingdom of God. 6) That which is born of the flesh is flesh, and that which is born of the Spirit is spirit. 7) Do not be surprised at what I said to you: you must be born again. 8) The Spirit breathes where it wants, and you hear its voice, but you do not know where it comes from or where it goes: this is the case with everyone who is born of the Spirit.” 9) Nicodemus answered and said to Him: “How can this be?” 10) Jesus answered and said to him: “You are a teacher in Israel, and do you not know this? 11) Truly, truly, I say to you: We speak of what we know and testify to what we have seen, but you do not accept Our testimony. 12) If I tell you earthly things and you do not believe, how can you believe if I tell you heavenly things? 13) And no one ascended into heaven except the Son of Man who came down from heaven, who is in heaven. 14) And as Moses lifted up the serpent in the wilderness, so must the Son of Man be lifted up, 15) that whoever believes in Him should not perish, but have eternal life. 16) For God so loved the world that he gave his only begotten Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life. 17) For God did not send His Son into the world to judge the world, but that the world might be saved through Him. 18) He who believes in Him is not condemned, but he who does not believe is already condemned, for he did not believe in the name of the Only Begotten Son of God. 19) This is the judgment that the light has come into the world; and men loved darkness rather than light, for their deeds were evil. 20) For everyone who does evil hates the light and does not come to the light, lest his deeds be exposed, 21) but he who does the truth comes to the light, so that his deeds may be revealed, for they were done in God.” 22) After this Jesus and His disciples came to the land of Judea; and there He lived with them and baptized. 23) And John also baptized at Aenon, near Salem, for there was much water there; and they came [there] and were baptized. 24) For John had not yet been thrown into prison. 25) A dispute arose between the disciples of John and the Jews about purification. 26) And they came to John and said to him: “Rabbi! [He] who was with you beyond the Jordan, to whom you testified, behold, He baptizes, and everyone comes to Him.” 27) John answered and said: “A man cannot take upon himself anything unless it is given to him from heaven. 28) You yourselves are my witnesses that I said: “I am not the Christ, but I was sent before Him.” 29) He who has a bride is the groom, but the groom’s friend, standing and listening to him, rejoices with joy at the groom’s voice. This is my joy fulfilled. 30) He must increase, but I must decrease. 31) He who comes from above is above all. He who is of the earth, [and] is of the earth, and speaks of the earth. He who comes from heaven is above all. 32) And what He saw and heard testified to this; and no one accepts His testimony. 33) Whoever received Him sealed / assured with a personal seal / the testimony that God is true. 34) For He whom God has sent speaks the words of God; For God does not give the Spirit by measure. 35) The Father loves the Son and has given everything into His hand. 36) He who believes in the Son has eternal life, but he who does not believe in the Son will not see life, but the wrath of God remains on him.” 1) When Jesus learned that the Pharisees had heard that Jesus was making more [people] disciples and baptizing [more] than John, 2) (although Jesus did not baptize, but His disciples did), 3) he left Judea and went again to Galilee. 4) He had to pass through Samaria. 5) So He comes to the city of Samaria, called Sychar, near the plot of land that Jacob gave to Joseph his son. 6) Jacob's spring was there. Jesus, weary from the journey, sat down there at the source. It was about six o'clock. 7) A woman comes from Samaria to draw water. Jesus says to her, “Give me something to drink.” 8) For His disciples went into the city to buy food. 9) The Samaritan wife said to Him: “How can you, when you are a Jew, ask me, a real Samaritan wife, for a drink? For Jews and Samaritans do not share anything together.” 10) Jesus answered and said to her: “If you knew the gift of God and who it is who says to you: “Give Me a drink,” then perhaps you yourself would ask Him, and He would give you living water.” 11) The woman said to Him: “Sir! You have nothing to draw from, but the well is deep; Where did you get your living water from? 12) Are you greater than our father Jacob, who gave us a well and drank from it, and his children and his cattle?” 13) Jesus answered and said to her: “Whoever drinks of this water will thirst again; but whoever drinks of the water that I will give him will never thirst; 14) But the water that I will give him will be in him a fountain of water springing up into eternal life.” 15) The woman said to Him: “Sir! Give me this water so that I won’t thirst and won’t have to come here to draw.” 16) Jesus said to her: “Go, call your husband and come here.” 17) The woman answered and said: “I don’t have a husband.” Jesus says to her: “You have well said: “For I have no husband,” 18) after all, you have had five husbands, and now the one you have is not your husband; you said it truthfully.” 19) The woman said to Him: “Lord! I see that you are a prophet. 20) Our fathers worshiped on this mountain, but you say that Jerusalem is the place where we should worship.” 21) Jesus said to her: “Woman! Believe Me that the hour is coming when you will worship the Father neither on this mountain nor in Jerusalem. 22) You worship what you do not know; we know what we bow to, for salvation is from the Jews. 23) But the hour is coming, and now is, when the true worshipers will worship the Father in spirit and truth, for the Father also seeks such as will worship Him. 24) God is Spirit, and those who worship Him must worship in spirit and in truth.” 25) The woman said to Him: “I know that the Messiah is coming (Who is called Christ); So when He comes, He will tell us everything.” 26) Jesus said to her: “It is I who speak to you.” 27) And immediately His disciples came and were surprised that He was talking to the woman. However, no one said: “What do You seek?” or: “Why are you talking to her?” 28) So the woman left her waterpot and went into the city, and said to those people: 29) “Come and see a man, who told me everything, whatever I did: is not this the Christ?” 30) So they left the city and went to Him. 31) Meanwhile the disciples asked Him, saying: “Rabbi! Eat." 32) He said to them: “I have food that you do not know.” 33) Therefore the disciples said to each other: “Did someone bring Him something to eat?” 34) Jesus said to them: “This is my food, that I may do the will of Him who sent Me, that I may finish His work. 35) Don't you say that there are still four months and the harvest will come? Behold, I say to you, lift up your eyes and look at the fields, for they are already white for the harvest. 36) And he who reaps receives his reward, and gathers fruit for eternal life; so that both he who sows and he who reaps may rejoice together, 37) for in this case the saying is true: “One sows, and another reaps.” 38) I sent you to reap what you did not labor for: others labored, but you entered into their labors.” 39) From that city many Samaritans believed in Him, according to the word of the woman who testified: “For He told me everything, whatever I did.” 40) When the Samaritans came to Him, they prayed for Him to remain there. And He stayed there two days. 41) And many more [people] believed in Him according to His word. 42) And they said to the woman: “For we no longer believe because of your words, for we ourselves have heard and known that this is truly the Savior of the world.” 43) After two days He left there and went to Galilee. 44) For Jesus himself testified that a prophet has no honor in his own country. 45) So when He came to Galilee, the Galileans received Him, seeing all that He did in Jerusalem on the feast, for they also went to the feast. 46) So Jesus came again to Cana of Galilee, where he turned water into wine. And there was a certain king whose son was sick in Capernaum. 47) When he heard that Jesus had come from Judea to Galilee, he came to Him and asked Him to come down and heal his son, for he was about to die. 48) So Jesus said to him, “Unless you see signs and wonders, you will not believe.” 49) The king said to Him: “Lord! Come down before my son dies.” 50) Jesus says to him: “Go, your son lives.” The man believed the word that Jesus told him and went. 51) When he was already going down, his servants met him and announced, saying that his son was healthy. 52) So, he asked them at what time he felt better. And they said to him: “For yesterday at seven o’clock the fever left him.” 53) The Father knew, therefore, that this was the hour in which Jesus said to him: “Your son lives,” and he and his whole house believed. 54) Jesus performed this second sign again when he came from Judea to Galilee. 1) After this there was a Jewish festival, and Jesus went up to Jerusalem. 2) There is a bath in Jerusalem called Probatica, in Hebrew Bethsaida, which had five porches. 3) In them lay a great multitude of the sick, the blind, the lame, the withered, waiting for the movement of the water. 4) The angel of the Lord went from time to time into the pool and troubled the water. And whoever entered the bath first when the water was disturbed, recovered, no matter what disease he was suffering from. 5) There was a certain man here who had been sick for thirty-eight years. 6) Jesus, when he saw him lying down and learned that he had been [sick] for a long time, said to him: “Do you want to become healthy?” 7) The sick man answered Him: “Lord, I do not have a man [who] when the water is troubled, would lower me into the pool; for when I come, another comes down before me.” 8) Jesus said to him: “Get up, take up your mat and walk.” 9) And he immediately became well, and took up his bed and walked. It was Saturday on that day. 10) Therefore the Jews said to the healed man: “Today is the Sabbath; It is not lawful for you to take your bed.” 11) He answered them: “He who healed me said to me: ‘Take up your bed and walk.’” 12) So they asked him: “Who is the Man who said to you, ‘Take up your mat and walk?’”? 13) The one who was healed did not know who He was. For Jesus turned away from the people that were in that place. 14) Then Jesus found him in the church and said to him: “Behold, you have become well; “Sin no more, lest something worse happen to you.” 15) The man went and announced to the Jews that it was Jesus who healed him. 16) Therefore the Jews persecuted Jesus because He did this on the Sabbath. 17) Jesus answered them: “My Father is working until now, and I am working.” 18) For this reason the Jews sought [even more] to kill Him, for He not only violated the Sabbath, but also called God His Father, making Himself equal to God. So Jesus answered and said to them: 19) “Truly, truly, I say to you, the Son can do nothing in Himself, unless He sees the Father doing: for whatever He does, these things the Son also does likewise. 20) For the Father loves the Son and shows Him everything that He Himself does; and He will show Him greater works than these, so that you may be amazed. 21) For just as the Father raises the dead and gives them life, so the Son also gives life to whomever he wants. 22) For the Father judges no one, but has given all judgment to the Son, 23) so that everyone may honor the Son as they honor the Father. He who does not honor the Son does not honor the Father who sent Him. 24) Truly, truly, I say to you, he who hears My word and believes Him who sent Me has eternal life, and does not come into judgment, but has passed from death to life. 25) Truly, truly, I say to you, the hour is coming, even now, when the dead will hear the voice of the Son of God, and those who hear will live. 26) For just as the Father has life in Himself, so He gave also to the Son to have life in Himself. 27) And He gave Him authority to execute judgment, for He is the Son of Man. 28) Do not be surprised at this; for the hour is coming in which all who are in the tombs will hear the voice of the Son of God; 29) and those who did good will come forth into the resurrection of life, and those who did evil into the resurrection of judgment. 30) I cannot create anything on My own. As I hear, [so] I judge, and My judgment is righteous; For I do not seek My will, but the will of Him who sent Me. 31) If I testify about Myself, My testimony is not true. 32) There is another who testifies about Me; and I know that the testimony he gives about Me is true. 33) You sent to John, and he testified to the truth. 34) However, I do not accept testimony from man, but I say this so that you may be saved. 35) He was a lamp, burning and shining; you wanted to rejoice for an hour at its glow. 36) But I have a testimony greater than John’s. For the works which the Father gave Me to do, the very works that I do, have testified of Me that the Father has sent Me. 37) And the Father who sent Me Himself testified of Me. And you have never heard His voice, nor seen His sight; 38) and you do not have His word abiding in you, for you do not believe Him whom He sent. 39) Search the Scriptures, for through them you think you have eternal life; and they testify about Me, 40) but you do not want to come to Me to have life. 41) I do not accept the shine of honor from people. 42) But I know you: you do not have love for God in yourself. 43) I came in the name of My Father, and you do not receive Me; but if another comes in his own name, you will receive him. 44) How can you believe when you receive glory from one another, but do not seek the glory that is from the One God? 45) Do not think that I will accuse you before the Father: you have an accuser, Moses, in whom you trust. 46) For if you had believed Moses, you would have believed Me, for he wrote about Me. 47) If you do not believe his writings, how will you believe My words?” 1) After this Jesus went to the other side of the Sea of Galilee, also known as the Sea of Tiberias. 2) And a great multitude [of the people] followed Him, for they saw the signs that He performed on the sick. 3) So Jesus went up to the mountain and sat there with His disciples. 4) Passover, the Jewish holiday, was near. 5) So, when Jesus lifted up his eyes and saw that a great crowd was coming to Him, He said to Philip: “Where can we buy bread for them to eat?” 6) He said these things, testing him; for He Himself knew what He would do. 7) Philip answered Him: “Two hundred denarii of bread is not enough for them, so that each of them gets at least a little.” 8) One of His disciples, Andrew, Simon Peter’s brother, said to Him: 9) “There is a boy here who has five barley loaves and two fish; but what is this for such a multitude? 10) Jesus said: “Make them lie down!” There was a lot of grass in [that] place. So, the men, numbering about five thousand, sat down. 11) So, Jesus accepted/took from someone/ the loaves and, as he had given thanks, he distributed to those reclining, also some of the fish, as much as anyone wanted. 12) And when they were satisfied, he said to his disciples: “Gather up the remaining pieces so that they are not lost.” 13) So they gathered and filled twelve baskets with pieces of the five barley loaves, which were abundant among those who ate. 14) The same people who saw the sign done by Jesus said: “For this is truly the Prophet who is coming into the world.” 15) When Jesus learned that they were coming to take him by force and make him king, he himself again fled to the mountain alone. 16) When evening came, His disciples went down to the sea. 17) And when they boarded the ship, they went to the other side of the sea, to Capernaum. And it was already getting dark, and Jesus did not come to them. 18) The sea, with a strong wind blowing, was agitated. 19) When they had sailed about twenty-five or thirty furlongs, they saw Jesus walking on the sea and approaching a boat, and they were afraid. 20) He said to them: “It is I, do not be afraid.” 21) So they wanted to take Him into the ship; and immediately the ship found itself at the land where they were sailing. 22) The next day the people who stood on the other side of the sea saw that there was no other boat there except the one into which His disciples had entered, and that Jesus did not enter the boat with His disciples, but His disciples alone had sailed away. 23) And other ships came from Tiberias close to the place where they were eating bread, giving thanks to the Lord. 24) So when the people saw that Jesus and His disciples were not there, they got into boats and sailed to Capernaum, looking for Jesus. 25) And when they found Him on the other side of the sea, they said to Him: “Rabbi! When did you come here? 26) Jesus answered them and said: “Truly, truly, I say to you, you seek Me, not because you saw the signs, but because you ate the bread and were filled. 27) Do not strive for the food that perishes, but for the food that endures to eternal life, which the Son of Man will give you. For the Father, God, has set His seal on Him.” 28) So they said to Him: “What must we do to do the works of God?” 29) Jesus answered and said to them: “This is the work of God, that you believe in Him whom He sent.” 30) They said to Him: “What sign will You do that we may see and believe You? What are you doing? 31) Our fathers ate manna in the wilderness, as it is written: “He gave them bread from heaven to eat”” (Ps. 77:24). 32) Jesus said to them: “Truly, truly, I say to you, Moses did not give you the bread from heaven, but My Father gives you the true bread from heaven. 33) For the bread of God is that which comes down from heaven and gives life to the world.” 34) They said to Him: “Lord! Always give us this bread." 35) Jesus said to them: “I am the bread of life; whoever comes to Me will never hunger, and whoever believes in Me will never thirst. 36) But I told you that you have seen Me and do not believe. 37) Everything that the Father gives Me will come to Me; Neither will I cast him out whoever comes to Me, 38) for I came down from heaven, not to do My will, but the will of Him who sent Me. 39) This is the will of Him who sent Me, the Father, that of all that He has given Me I will not destroy anything, but will raise it up on the last day. 40) This is the will of My Father, who sent Me, that everyone who sees the Son and believes in Him may have eternal life; and I will raise him up at the last day.” 41) The Jews grumbled at Him because He said: “I am the living bread that came down from heaven,” 42) and said: “Isn’t this Jesus, the son of Joseph, whose father and mother we know? How then does He say: “For I came down from heaven”? 43) So Jesus answered them and said to them, “Do not murmur among yourselves. 44) No one can come to Me unless the Father who sent Me draws him; and I will raise him up at the last day. 45) It is written in the Prophets: “And they will all be taught by God” (Is.54:13). Everyone who has heard from the Father and learned comes to Me. 46) It is not that anyone has seen the Father except He who is from God; This one saw the Father. 47) Truly, truly, I say to you, whoever believes in Me has eternal life. 48) I am the bread of life. 49) Your fathers ate manna in the wilderness and are dead. 50) This is the bread that comes down from heaven; so that if anyone eats from it, he will not die. 51) I am the living bread that came down from heaven. 52) If anyone eats of this bread, he will live forever; and the bread that I will give is My flesh for the life of the world.” 53) So the Jews argued among themselves, saying: “How can He give us His flesh to eat?” 54) Jesus said to them: “Truly, truly, I say to you, unless you eat the flesh of the Son of Man and drink his blood, you have no life in you. 55) He who eats My Flesh and drinks My Blood has eternal life, and I will raise him up on the last day. 56) For My Flesh is truly food, and My Blood is truly drink; 57) He who eats My Flesh and drinks My Blood abides in Me, and I in him. 58) Just as the living Father sent Me, and I live through the Father, and [also] whoever eats Me, he will live through Me. 59) This is the bread that came down from heaven. Not as your fathers ate manna and are dead. Whoever eats this bread will live forever.” 60) These things He spoke while teaching in the synagogue in Capernaum. 61) Many of His disciples heard it and said: “This word is cruel! And who can listen to him? 62) Jesus, knowing within Himself that His disciples were grumbling about this, said to them: “Does this offend you? 63) What if you see the Son of Man ascending to where he was at first? 64) It is the spirit that gives life; the flesh brings no benefit. The words that I speak to you are spirit and life. 65) But there are some of you who disbelieve.” For Jesus knew from the beginning who the unbelievers were and who would betray Him. 66) And he said: “For this reason I told you that no one can come to Me unless it is given to him from My Father.” 67) From this [time] many of His disciples went back and no longer walked with Him. 68) Jesus said to the twelve, “Would you also like to go away?” 69) So, Simon Peter answered Him: “Lord, to whom shall we go? You have the verbs of eternal life. 70) And we believed and knew that You are the Christ, the Son of the Living God.” 71) Jesus answered them: “Have I not chosen twelve of you, and one of you is the devil?” 72) He spoke about Judas Simon Iscariot, for this one was about to betray Him, even though he was one of the twelve. 1) After this, Jesus walked through Galilee, for he did not want to walk through Judea, because the Jews were looking to kill Him. 2) The Jewish holiday was approaching - the Setting up of Tabernacles. 3) His brothers said to Him: “Get out of here and go to Judea, so that Your disciples may see Your works that You are doing. 4) After all, no one does anything in secret, and seeks to be in plain sight. If You do this, reveal Yourself to the world.” 5) For even His brothers did not believe in Him. 6) Jesus said to them: “My time has not yet come, but your time is always coming. 7) The world cannot hate you, but it hates Me, for I give testimony about it that its deeds are evil. 8) You will rise on this holiday; But I will not rise on that feast day, for My time has not yet been fulfilled.” 9) When He said this, He Himself remained in Galilee. 10) As His brothers ascended, then He Himself ascended to the feast, not openly, but as if secretly. 11) The Jews looked for Him at the feast day and said: “Where is He?” 12) And there was great murmuring about Him in the crowd. For some said: “After all, He is good.” Others said: “No, but he deceives the people.” 13) No one, however, spoke about Him openly out of fear of the Jews. 14) But already in the middle of the holiday, Jesus went up to the church and taught. 15) And the Jews marveled, saying: “How does He know these writings when He has not studied?” 16) Jesus answered them and said: “My teaching is not Mine, but that of Him who sent Me. 17) If anyone wants to do His will, he will know about the teaching, whether it is from God, or whether I speak from Myself. 18) The speaker seeks his own glory on his own behalf; Whoever seeks the glory of Him who sent Him is true, and there is no unrighteousness in Him. 19) Did not Moses give you the law, and none of you [yet] act [according to] the law? 20) Why are you trying to kill Me? The crowd answered and said: “You have a demon! Who is seeking to kill You? 21) Jesus answered and said to them: “I have done one thing, and you all marvel. 22) Therefore Moses also gave you circumcision (although it was not from Moses, but from the fathers), and on the Sabbath you circumcise a person. 23) If a person receives circumcision on the Sabbath so that the law of Moses would not be broken, are you angry with Me because I healed the whole person on the Sabbath? 24) Do not judge by appearance, but judge with righteous judgment.” 25) Some of the Jerusalemites said: “Isn’t this the one they are trying to kill? 26) And behold, He speaks openly, and they say nothing to Him: were not the princes really convinced that this is Christ? 27) But this we know where He comes from; But when Christ comes, no one will know where He comes from.” 28) So Jesus cried out in the church, teaching and saying: “And you know Me, and you know where I come from; and I did not come from Myself, but He who sent Me is true, whom you do not know. 29) I know Him, for I am from Him, and He Himself sent Me.” 30) So they sought to seize Him, but no one laid hands on Him, for His hour had not yet come. 31) Many of the people believed in Him and said: “When Christ comes, will He really do more signs than He has done?” 32) The Pharisees heard the crowd grumbling about him so much, and the princes and Pharisees sent servants to arrest Him. 33) Jesus said to them: “A little while longer I am with you, and then I will go to Him who sent Me; 34) you will seek Me and will not find me; and where I am, [there] you cannot come.” 35) So the Jews said among themselves: “Where will He go, so that we will not find Him? Doesn't He want to go into the pagan dispersion and teach the pagans? 36) What are these words that He said: “You will seek Me and will not find me; and where I am, [there] you cannot come"? 37) On the last great day of the feast, Jesus stood and cried out, saying: “If anyone is thirsty, let him come to Me and drink. 38) Whoever believes in Me, as the Scripture says, “out of his heart will flow rivers of living water”” (Deut. 18:15; Joel. 2:28). 39) This He said concerning the Spirit, which those who believed on Him were about to receive: for the Holy Spirit was not yet given, for Jesus was not yet glorified. 40) So from this crowd, when they heard these words of Him, they said: “This is truly a Prophet.” 41) Others said: “This is Christ.” Others said: “Will Christ come from Galilee? 42) Does not the Scripture say that from the seed of David and from Bethlehem, the place from which David was, Christ will come?” 43) So, because of Him, there was dissension among the people. 44) Some of them wanted to seize Him; but no one laid hands on Him. 45) So the ministers came to the chief priests and Pharisees. And they said to them: “Why did you not bring Him?” 46) The servants answered: “Never has a man spoken like this Man.” 47) The Pharisees answered them: “Are you also deceived? 48) Did any of the princes believe in Him, or any of the Pharisees? 49) But this people, who are ignorant of the law, are cursed." 50) Nicodemus, who came to Him at night, who was one of them, said to them: 51) “Does our law really judge a man unless they first hear him and know what he does?” 52) They answered and said to him: “Are you also a Galilean? Search the Scriptures and you will see that the Prophet does not rise from Galilee.” 53) And each of them returned to his home. 1) Jesus went up to the Mount of Olives. 2) And in the morning he came again to the church, and all the people came to Him, and He, sitting, taught them. 3) The scribes and Pharisees brought the woman who had been taken in adultery and placed her in the midst, 4) and said to Him: “Teacher! This woman has just been caught in adultery. 5) In the Law, Moses commanded us to stone such people as this: What do you say?” 6) They said this to tempt Him, so that they could accuse Him. Jesus, bending low, wrote with his finger on the ground. 7) When they continued to ask Him, He straightened up and said to them: “He who is without sin among you, let him be the first to throw a stone at her.” 8) And again, bending low, he wrote on the ground. 9) When they heard it, they began to leave one by one, starting with the eldest, and only Jesus remained and the woman standing in the middle. 10) Jesus straightened up and said to her: “Woman! Where are those who accused you? Has no one judged you? 11) She answered: “No one, Lord.” Jesus said: “Neither do I condemn you; go and sin no more.” 12) Jesus spoke to them again, saying: “I am the light of the world; Whoever follows Me will not walk in darkness, but will have the light of life.” 13) So, the Pharisees said to Him: “You testify about Yourself, Your testimony is not true.” 14) Jesus answered and said to them: “If I testify of Myself, My testimony is true; for I know where I came from and where I am going; You don’t know where I come from or where I’m going. 15) You judge according to the flesh; I don't judge anyone. 16) And even if I judge, My judgment is true, for I am not alone, but I and He who sent Me, the Father. 17) And it is written in your law that the testimony of two people is true. 18) I testify of Myself, and He who sent Me, the Father, testifies of Me.” 19) So they said to Him: “Where is Your Father?” Jesus answered: “You know neither Me nor My Father; If you knew Me, then perhaps you would also know My Father.” 20) Jesus spoke these words at the treasury, teaching in the church; and no one took Him, for His hour had not yet come. 21) So Jesus said to them again: “I am going away, and you will seek Me and die in your sin. Where I go, [there] you cannot come.” 22) Then the Jews said: “Will He really kill Himself, because He says: “Where I am going, you cannot come”?” 23) And he said to them: “You are from below, I am from above; you are of this world, I am not of this world. 24) So I have told you that you will die in your sins; for if you do not believe that I am, you will die in your sin.” 25) So they said to Him: “Who are You?” Jesus said to them: “The beginning, which also speaks to you. 26) I have a lot to say and judge about you; but He who sent Me is true, and what I have heard from Him, these things I speak in the world.” 27) And they did not understand that He called God His Father. 28) So Jesus said to them: “When you lift up the Son of Man, then you will know that I am, and of Myself I do nothing, but as My Father taught Me, so I speak. 29) And He who sent Me is with Me and has not left Me alone, for I always do whatever He pleases.” 30) When He said this, many believed in Him. 31) Jesus said to the Jews who believed in Him: “If you continue in My word, you will truly be My disciples, 32) and you will know the truth, and the truth will set you free.” 33) They answered him: “We are Abraham’s seed and have never been slaves to anyone; How then do You say: “You will be free”?” 34) Jesus answered them: “Truly, truly, I say to you, everyone who commits sin is a slave of sin. 35) But a servant does not remain in the house forever; but the son abides forever. 36) Therefore, if the Son sets you free, you will be free indeed. 37) I know that you are Abraham’s children; yet you seek to kill Me, for My word cannot be found in you. 38) I speak what I saw with My Father; and you do what you saw with your father.” 39) They answered and said to Him: “Our Father is Abraham.” Jesus said to them: “If you are children of Abraham, do the works of Abraham! 40) Now you seek to kill Me, the Man who told you the truth, which I heard from God: Abraham did not do this. 41) You do the works of your father.” So they said to Him: “We were not born of fornication; We have one Father, God.” 42) Jesus said to them: “If God were your Father, you would love Me also, for I proceeded and came from God; and I did not come of Myself, but He sent Me. 43) Why do you not understand My speech? For you cannot hear My words. 44) You are from [your] father – the devil; and you want to do the lusts of your father. He was a murderer from the beginning and did not stand in the truth, for there is no truth in him. When he speaks a lie, he speaks from his [essence], for he is a liar and the father of lies. 45) But if I speak the truth, you do not believe Me. 46) Which of you will convict Me of sin? If I tell you the truth, why don’t you believe Me? 47) He who is from God listens to the words of God. That’s why you don’t listen, because you are not from God.” 48) So the Jews answered and said to Him: “Are we not right in saying that You are a Samaritan and that You have a demon?” 49) Jesus answered: “I have no demon; but I honor My Father, and you dishonor Me. 50) I do not seek My glory: there is the Seeker and the Judge. 51) Truly, truly, I say to you, if anyone keeps My word, he will never see death.” 52) The Jews said to Him: “Now we know that you have a demon. Abraham died and the prophets, and You say: “If anyone keeps My word, he will never taste death.” 53) Are You greater than our father Abraham, who died? And the prophets died. Who are you making yourself?" 54) Jesus answered: “If I glorify Myself, My glory is nothing. There is My Father, Who glorifies Me, of whom you say that He is your God. 55) And you did not know Him, but I know Him. And if I say that I do not know Him, then I will be like you, a liar. But I know Him and keep His word. 56) Abraham your father rejoiced because he could see My day; I saw it and was delighted.” 57) So the Jews said to Him: “You are not yet fifty years old, and have you seen Abraham?” 58) Jesus said to them: “Truly, truly, I say to you, before Abraham was, I am.” 59) So they took up stones to throw at Him; Jesus hid and left the church. 1) And as Jesus passed by, he saw a man blind from birth. 2) And His disciples asked Him: “Rabbi! Who sinned, this one or his parents, that he was born blind?” 3) Jesus answered: “Neither this one nor his parents sinned, but let the works of God be manifested in him. 4) I must do the works of Him who sent Me while it is day; the night comes when no one can do anything. 5) As long as I am in the world, I am the light of the world.” 6) As He said this, He spat on the ground, made clay from the spit, and smeared the clay over his eyes, 7) and said to him: “Go, wash in the pool of Siloam” (which is translated: “Sent”). So, he went and washed, and came seeing. 8) So, the neighbors, who had seen before that he was a beggar, said: “Isn’t this the one who sat and begged for alms?” Others said: “It’s him.” 9) Others: “No way, but he looks like him.” He said: “It’s me.” 10) So they say to him: “How were your eyes opened?” 11) He answered: “This man, who is called Jesus, made clay and anointed my eyes, and said to me: “Go to the pool of Siloam and wash.” And I went and washed, and received my sight.” 12) And they said to him: “Where is He?” Said: “I don’t know.” 13) They took him, who was formerly blind, to the Pharisees. 14) Now it was the Sabbath when Jesus made clay and opened his eyes. 15) The Pharisees asked him again how he received his sight. He said to them: “He put clay on my eyes, and I washed, and I see.” 16) So some of the Pharisees said: “This Man is not from God, for he does not keep the Sabbath.” Others said: “How can a sinful man perform such signs?” And there was a split between them. 17) So, again they say to the blind man: “What can you say about Him who opened your eyes?” He said: “After all, this is a prophet.” 18) So the Jews did not believe that he was blind and received his sight, until they called the parents of this one who had received his sight; 19) and asked them: “Is this your son, of whom you say that he was born blind? How can he see now? 20) His parents answered them: “We know that this is our son and that he was born blind, 21) how now he sees, we do not know, or who opened his eyes, we do not know. Ask yourself, he is of advanced age, let him speak about himself.” 22) His parents said this because they were afraid of the Jews; for the Jews had already agreed that if anyone confessed Him as Christ, he should be excommunicated from the synagogue. 23) That is why his parents said: “For he is of advanced years, ask yourself.” 24) So, they called the man who was blind a second time and said to him: “Give glory to God, we know that this man is a sinner.” 25) So he said to them: “Whether He is a sinner, I don’t know, but one thing I know, that I was blind, [but] now I see.” 26) So they said to him: “What has He done to you? How did I open your eyes? 27) He answered them: “I have already told you, and you have heard, what, do you want to hear again? Or do you also want to become His disciples?” 28) They cursed him and said: “Let you be His disciple, we are Moses’ disciples. 29) We know that God spoke to Moses; But we don’t know where He comes from.” 30) The man answered and said to them: “The wonder is that you do not know where He comes from, but He opened my eyes. 31) We know that God does not listen to sinners, but whoever honors God and does His will listens to him. 32) Since the beginning of time it has not been heard that anyone opened the eyes of a man born blind. 33) If this One were not from God, He could not do anything.” 34) They answered and said to him: “You were born entirely in sins, and are you teaching us?” And they kicked him out. 35) Jesus heard that they had cast him out, and when he found him, he said to him: “Do you believe in the Son of God?” 36) He answered and said: “Who is He, Lord, that I should believe in Him?” 37) And Jesus said to him: “And you have seen Him, and He who speaks to you is He.” 38) And he said: “I believe, Lord!” And, falling down, he bowed to Him. 39) And Jesus said: “I came into this world for judgment, so that those who do not see may see, and those who see may become blind.” 40) And some of the Pharisees who were with Him heard this, and said to Him: “Are we also blind?” 41) Jesus said to them: “If you were blind, you would have no sin; “But now you say: ‘For we see,’ [meaning] your sin remains [on you].” 1) “Truly, truly, I say to you, whoever does not enter the sheep fold by the door, but gets in by another way, is a thief and a robber. 2) Whoever enters by the door is the shepherd of the sheep. 3) The gatekeeper opens the door for him, and the sheep listen to his voice, and he calls his sheep by name and leads them out. 4) And when he brings out his sheep, he goes before them, and the sheep follow him, for they know his voice. 5) They do not follow a stranger, but run from him, because they do not know the voice of strangers.” 6) Jesus told them this parable, but they did not understand what He was saying to them. 7) So again Jesus said to them: “Truly, truly, I say to you, I am the door of the sheep. 8) All of them, no matter how many of them came before Me, are thieves and robbers, and the sheep did not listen to them. 9) I am the door: whoever enters by Me will be saved, and will go in and out and find pasture. 10) A thief comes for no other purpose than to steal, and kill, and destroy. I have come so that they may have life and have it more abundantly. 11) I am the good shepherd: the good shepherd lays down his life for the sheep. 12) A hireling, and he who is not a shepherd, and whose sheep are not his own, sees the wolf coming, and leaves the sheep, and runs; and the wolf grabs and scatters the sheep. 13) The hireling flees, for he is a hireling, and careless about the things that pertain to the sheep. 14) I am the good shepherd; and I know Mine, and Mine know Me. 15) As the Father knows Me, and I know the Father; and I lay down My life for My sheep. 16) I have other sheep that are not from this fold, and these I must bring, and they will hear My voice, and there will be one sheepfold and one Shepherd. 17) This is why the Father loves Me, because I lay down My life in order to take it up again. 18) No one takes it away from Me, but I lay it down myself. And I have authority to lay it down, and I have authority to take it up again. I have received this commandment from My Father.” 19) Again there was disagreement among the Jews because of these words. 20) Many of them said: “He is possessed and crazy; Why are you listening to Him? 21) Others said: “These are not the words of one possessed; Can a demon really open the eyes of the blind?!” 22) The [feast] of the Consecration arrived in Jerusalem, and it was winter. 23) And Jesus walked in the temple in Solomon's porch. 24) So the Jews surrounded Him and said to Him: “How long will You keep our souls in limbo? If You are the Christ, let us understand plainly.” 25) Jesus answered them: “I tell you, and you do not believe; the works that I do in the name of My Father, these testify of Me. 26) But you do not believe, for you are not of My sheep. 27) My sheep obey my voice, and I know them; and they follow Me. 28) And I give them eternal life, and they shall never perish; and no one will be able to snatch them out of My hand. 29) My Father, who gave me [them], is greater than all; and no one can snatch from the hand of My Father. 30) I and the Father are one.” 31) So the Jews took up stones to stone Him. 32) Jesus answered them: “Many good works have I shown you from My Father; For which of these do you stone Me?” 33) The Jews answered Him: “We do not stone You for a good deed, but for blasphemy; and because You, being a man, make Yourself God.” 34) Jesus answered them: “Is it not written in your law: “For I said, ‘You are gods’”? (Ps. 81:6). 35) If He called “gods” those to whom the word of God came, and the Scripture cannot be broken, 36) [Is it] [to him] whom the Father sanctified and sent into the world, you say: “You are blaspheming,” for I said: “I am the Son of God”? 37) If I do not do the works of My Father, do not believe Me. 38) If I create, then even if you don’t want to believe Me, believe the works, so that you will know and believe that the Father is in Me and I in Him.” 39) So they again sought to seize Him; and He escaped from their hands. 40) And he went again across the Jordan to the place where John first baptized, and remained there. 41) And many came to Him and said: “For John did no sign, 42) but whatever John said about this [Man] was true.” And many believed in Him. 1) A certain Lazarus from Bethany, the village of Mary and Martha, her sister, was sick. 2) (Mary was the one who anointed the Lord with ointment and wiped His feet with her hair; her brother Lazarus was sick.) 3) So, his sisters sent him to Him, saying: “Lord! Behold, the one You love is sick.” 4) When Jesus heard it, he said to them: “This sickness is not for death, but for the glory of God, so that the Son of God may be glorified through it.” 5) Jesus loved Martha and her sister Mary and Lazarus. 6) When I heard that he was sick, he stayed in the same place for two days. 7) Then, after this, he said to his disciples: “Let us go again to Judea.” 8) The disciples said to Him: “Rabbi! Just now the Jews were looking to stone You, and You are going there again?” 9) Jesus answered: “Are there not twelve hours in the day? If anyone walks during the day, he does not stumble, for he sees the light of this world; 10) if he walks at night, he stumbles, for there is no light in him.” 11) He said this, and after this he said to them: “Lazarus, our friend, fell asleep; but I am coming to awaken him from sleep.” 12) His disciples said: “Lord! If he falls asleep, he will be saved.” 13) Jesus spoke about his death, but they thought that He was talking about the sleep of slumber. 14) So then Jesus said to them directly: “Lazarus is dead; 15) and I rejoice for you, so that you may believe, because I was not there; but let’s go to him.” 16) So, Thomas, called Didymus /Twin/, said to his fellow disciples: “Let us also go to die with Him.” 17) So Jesus came and found him already four days lying in the tomb. 18) (Bethany was near Jerusalem, about fifteen stages away.) 19) Many of the Jews came to Martha and Mary to console them [in their sorrow] about their brother. 20) Martha, when she heard that Jesus had come, went out to meet Him; Maria was sitting at home. 21) So Martha said to Jesus: “Lord! If You had been here, my brother would not have died. 22) But even now I know that whatever you ask God, God will give you.” 23) Jesus said to her: “Your brother will rise again.” 24) Martha said to Him: “I know that he will rise again on the resurrection, on the last day.” 25) Jesus said to her: “I am the resurrection and the life; He who believes in Me, even if he dies, will live. 26) And everyone who lives and believes in Me will never die. Do you believe this? 27) She says to Him: “Yes, Lord! I believe that You are the Christ, the Son of God, coming into this world.” 28) And when she had said this, she went and secretly called Mary her sister, saying: “The Teacher has come and is calling you.” 29) She, as she [soon] heard, hastily got up and went to Him; 30) for Jesus had not yet entered the village, but was still in the place where Martha met Him. 31) So the Jews who were with her in the house and comforting her, when they saw that Mary hastily got up and went out, followed her, saying: “For she has gone to the tomb to weep there.” 32) Mary, when she came to where Jesus was, saw Him, fell at His feet and said to Him: “Lord! If You had been here, my brother would not have died.” 33) When Jesus saw her weeping and the Jews who came with her weeping, He Himself was grieved in spirit and was indignant, 34) and said: “Where have you laid him?” They say to Him: “Lord! Come and see." 35) And Jesus shed tears. 36) The Jews said: “This is how He loved him.” 37) Some of them said: “Could not He, who opened the eyes of the man born blind, prevent this one from dying?” 38) Jesus, again grieving within Himself, comes to the tomb. There was a cave, and a stone lay on it. 39) Jesus says: “Take a stone.” Martha, the sister of the deceased, said to Him: “Lord! It already stinks; for he is four days [there].” 40) Jesus says to her: “Did I not tell you that if you believe, you will see the glory of God?” 41) So, they took the stone. Jesus, lifting up his eyes to the mountain, said: “Father! I thank You because You heard Me. 42) I knew that You would always hear Me; But for the sake of the people standing around, I said [this], so that they might believe that You sent Me.” 43) When He said this, He cried out with a loud voice: “Lazarus! Get out." 44) And immediately the deceased came out, entwined on his arms and legs with funeral bands, and his face was tied with a scarf. Jesus says to them: “Untie him and let him go.” 45) Many of the Jews who came to Mary and Martha and saw what Jesus had done believed in Him. 46) Some of them went to the Pharisees and told them what Jesus had done. 47) The high priests and Pharisees gathered a council and said: “What should we do, since this Man is doing many signs. 48) If we leave Him like this, everyone will believe in Him, and the Romans will come and take our place and people.” 49) One of them, named Caiaphas, being the high priest that year, said to them: “You know nothing, 50) and do not think that it is better for you that one person should die for the people, and not the whole people should perish.” 51) He said this not on his own, but, being high priest that year, he prophesied that Jesus would die for the people, 52) and not only for the people, but that he might also gather together the children of God who were scattered. 53) From that very day they planned to kill Him. 54) Therefore Jesus no longer walked openly among the Jews, but went from there to a country near the desert, to a city called Ephraim, and remained there with His disciples. 55) Now the Passover of the Jews was near, and many from the whole country went up to Jerusalem before Passover to sanctify themselves. 56) So they looked for Jesus and said to each other, standing in the church: “What do you think: He will not come to the feast?” 57) The high priests and Pharisees gave orders that if anyone knew where He would be, they would report him so that they would arrest Him. 1) So Jesus, six days before the Passover, came to Bethany, where Lazarus was dead, whom Jesus raised [to life]. 2) They prepared supper for Him there, and Martha served, and Lazarus was one of those who reclined with Him. 3) Mary took a pound of pure precious ointment of spikenard and anointed the feet of Jesus, and wiped His feet with her hair; and the house was filled with the fragrance of the anointing. 4) So, said one of His disciples, Judas Iscariot, who was His betrayer: 5) “Why was not this anointing sold for three hundred denarii and given to the poor?” 6) He said this not because he cared about the poor, but because he was a thief. And having a [cash] drawer, he wore what they put in there. 7) Jesus said: “Give her permission to save this for the day of My burial. 8) For you always have the poor with you, but you do not always have Me.” 9) The multitude of the Jews knew that He was there, and they came not only for Jesus alone, but to see Lazarus, whom He had raised from the dead. 10) The chief priests plotted to kill Lazarus also, 11) for for his sake many of the Jews came and believed in Jesus. 12) The next day the multitude of people who had come to the feast, when they heard that Jesus was coming to Jerusalem, 13) took palm branches and went out to meet Him, and exclaimed: “Hosanna! Blessed is He who comes in the name of the Lord, the King of Israel!” 14) And Jesus found a colt and sat on it, as it is written: 15) “Fear not, daughter of Zion! Behold, your King comes sitting on a colt” (Zechariah 9:9). 16) His disciples did not know this at first; but when Jesus became glorified, then they remembered that it was written about Him, and they did it to Him. 17) The people who were with Him testified when He called Lazarus from the tomb and raised him from the dead. 18) That is why the crowd came out to meet Him, for they heard that He had done this sign. 19) The Pharisees said to each other: “Do you see that nothing is working out for us? Behold, the whole world is following Him.” 20) Now there were some pagans among those who went up to worship on the feast day. 21) So they approached Philip, who was from Bethsaida in Galilee, and asked him, saying: “Sir! We would like to see Jesus." 22) Philip goes and says to Andrew; again Andrew and Philip tell Jesus. 23) Jesus answers them, saying: “The hour is coming, that the Son of Man may shine forth. 24) Truly, truly, I say to you, unless a grain of wheat falls into the ground and dies, 25) it remains alone; if it dies, it will bear much fruit. He who loves his life will destroy it; But he who hates his life in this world will keep it to eternal life. 26) If anyone serves Me, let him follow Me; and where I am, there will my servant also be. If anyone serves Me, My Father will honor him. 27) Now my soul is troubled. So what can I say? Father, save Me from this hour. But for this reason I came at this hour. 28) Father! glorify Your name." So, a voice came from heaven: “I have glorified it, and I will glorify it again.” 29) The people standing and hearing said that it was thunder. Others said: “An angel spoke to Him.” 30) Jesus answered and said: “This voice did not come for My sake, but for your sake. 31) Now is the judgment of the world; now the prince of this world will be cast out. 32) And I, if I am lifted up from the earth, will draw everything to Me.” 33) (He said this, denoting by what kind of death He would die.) 34) The people answered Him: “We have heard from the law that Christ abides forever; and how do You say: “The Son of Man must be exalted?” Who is this Son of Man? 35) Then Jesus said to them: “For yet a little [time] there is light among you; walk while there is light, lest darkness overtake you: but he who walks in darkness does not know where he is going. 36) As long as the light is with you, believe in the light, that you may be sons of light.” Having said this, Jesus walked away and hid from them. 37) When He did so many signs before them, they did not believe in Him; 38) may the word of Isaiah the prophet be fulfilled, who said: “Lord! Who believed what they heard from us? And to whom was the shoulder of the Lord revealed?” (Isa.53:31). 39) For this reason they could not believe, for again Isaiah said: 40) “He has blinded their eyes and hardened their heart, so that they do not see with their eyes, and do not understand with their heart, and turn, and I will heal them” (Is. 6:9). 41) Isaiah said this when he saw His glory and spoke about Him. 42) However, many of the rulers believed in Him; but for the sake of the Pharisees they did not confess, so as not to be excommunicated from the synagogue. 43) For they loved the glory of men more than the glory of God. 44) Jesus cried out and said: “He who believes in Me does not believe in Me, but in Him who sent Me. 45) And he who sees Me sees Him who sent Me. 46) I have come as light into the world, so that whoever believes in Me will not remain in darkness. 47) And if anyone hears My words and does not keep them, I do not judge him, for I did not come to judge the world, but to save the world. 48) He who rejects Me and does not accept My words has a judge for himself. The word that I have spoken will judge him at the last day. 49) For I do not speak from Myself; but the Father who sent Me, He gave Me a commandment, what to say and what to say. 50) And I know that His commandment is eternal life. So, what I say, as the Father told Me, so [and] I speak.” 1) Before the day of the Passover, Jesus, knowing that His hour had come to pass from this world to the Father, when He loved His own who were in the world, He loved them to the end. 2) And when the supper was over, the devil had already put it into the heart of Judas Simon Iscariot to betray Him, 3) [Jesus], knowing that the Father had given everything into His hands, and that He came from God and was going to God, 4) arose from the supper and laid down His clothes, and when he took the towel, he girded himself. 5) Then he poured water into the washbasin and began to wash the disciples’ feet and wipe them with the towel with which he was girded. 6) He approaches Simon Peter. And Peter said to Him: “Lord! Should you wash my feet? 7) Jesus answered and said: “What I do, you do not know yet, but you will understand later.” 8) Peter said to Him: “You will never wash my feet.” Jesus answered him: “If I do not wash you, you have no part with Me.” 9) Simon Peter said to Him: “Lord! Not only my feet, but also my hands and my head.” 10) Jesus says to him: “Whoever is washed needs nothing except to wash his feet, but is completely clean. And you are clean, but not all.” 11) For He knew who the one would betray Him, and that is why He said: “You are not all pure.” 12) After he had washed their feet and taken on his clothes, when he lay down again, he said to them: “Do you know what I have done to you? 13) You call on Me: “Teacher!” and “Oh my God!” – and speak correctly, for that is what I am. 14) So, if I, the Lord and Teacher, washed your feet, you should wash each other’s feet. 15) For I have given you an example, that whatever I have done to you, so you should do it. 16) Truly, truly, I say to you, a servant is not greater than his master, and an apostle is not greater than him who sent him. 17) If you know this, you will be blessed if you do it. 18) I’m not talking about all of you; I know whom I chose. But let the Scripture be fulfilled: “He who eats bread with Me has lifted up his heel against Me” (Ps. 40:10). 19) Now I tell you, before this happened; so that when it comes to pass, you will believe that I am. 20) Truly, truly, I say to you, he who receives [a person sent], if I send anyone, receives Me; whoever receives Me receives Him who sent Me.” 21) When Jesus had said this, he was troubled in spirit and protested, and said, “Truly, truly, I say to you, one of you will betray Me.” 22) The disciples looked around at each other, wondering who He was talking about. 23) And one of His disciples, whom Jesus loved, was reclining in the bosom of Jesus. 24) So Simon Peter gave him a sign, and said to him: “Who is this of whom he speaks?” 25) So, as he fell to the chest of Jesus, he said to Him: “Lord! Who is this?" 26) Jesus answered: “He to whom I have dipped the bread I will give.” And as soon as he dipped the bread, he gave it to Judas Simon Iscariot. 27) And after [this] piece Satan entered into him. And Jesus said to him: “Whatever you are doing, do it quickly.” 28) But none of those who were reclining understood why He told him this. 29) For some thought, since Judas had the chest, that Jesus was saying to him: “Buy what we need for the feast day,” or that he would give something to the poor. 30) When he accepted the piece, he immediately left. It was night. 31) When he had gone out, Jesus said, “Now is the Son of Man glorified, and God is glorified in Him. 32) If God is glorified in Him, and God will glorify Him in Himself, and will immediately glorify Him. 33) Kids! I'm still with you for a little while. You will seek Me, and as I said to the Jews: “Where I go, you cannot come,” so I say to you now. 34) I give you a new commandment, that you love one another; just as I have loved you, let you also love one another. 35) By this everyone will know that you are My disciples, if you have love for one another.” 36) Simon Peter said to Him: “Lord! Where are you going? Jesus answered: “Where I am going, you cannot follow Me now, but later you will follow.” 37) Peter said to Him: “Lord! Why can't I follow You now? I will lay down my life for You." 38) Jesus answered him: “Will you lay down your life for Me? Truly, truly, I say to you, the rooster will not crow until you have denied Me three times.” 1) “Let not your heart be troubled. You believe in God, and believe in Me. 2) In My Father's house are many mansions; but if it were not so, I would say to you: “For I go to prepare a place for you.” 3) And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again and take you to Myself, so that where I am, you too may be. 4) And where I am going, you know, and you know the way.” 5) Thomas said to Him: “Lord! We don't know where you're going; and how can we know the way? 6) Jesus said to him: “I am the Way, and the Truth, and the Life. No one comes to the Father except through Me. 7) If you knew Me, you would certainly know My Father. And from now on you will know Him and have seen Him.” 8) Philip said to Him: “Lord! Show us the Father, and that is enough for us.” 9) Jesus said to him: “I have been with you so long and you have not known Me? Philip! Whoever has seen Me has seen the Father also. How do you say: “Show us the Father”? 10) Do you not believe that I am in the Father and the Father in Me? The words that I speak to you do not speak from Myself. The Father who abides in Me, He Himself does the works. 11) Do you not believe that I am in the Father and the Father in Me? 12) And if not so, believe according to the works themselves. Truly, truly, I say to you, he who believes in Me will do the works that I do, and he will do greater works than these, for I go to the Father. 13) And whatsoever ye ask of the Father in My name, that will I do, that the Father may be glorified in the Son. 14) If you ask anything in My name, I will do it. 15) If you love Me, keep My commandments. 16) And I will pray the Father, and he will give you another Comforter, that he may abide with you forever, 17) the Spirit of truth, whom the world cannot receive, for it neither sees Him nor knows Him; But you will know Him, for He will abide among you and be in you. 18) I will not leave you orphans; I'll come to you. 19) A little more, and the world will no longer see Me. You will see Me, for I live, and you will live. 20) On that day you will know that I am in My Father, and you in Me, and I in you. 21) He who has My commandments and keeps them is the one who loves Me. Whoever loves Me will be loved by My Father; and I will love him and appear to him Myself.” 22) Judas, not the same as Iscariot, said to Him: “Lord! What happened that You appear to us and not to the world?” 23) Jesus answered and said to him: “If anyone loves Me, he will keep My word; and My Father will love him, and We will come to him and make our abode with him. 24) He who does not love Me does not keep My words. But the word that you hear is not Mine, but the Father who sent Me. 25) I told you these things while I was with you. 26) The Comforter, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in My name, He will teach you everything and remind you of everything, whatever I tell you. 27) Peace I leave with you, My peace I give to you; not in the way the world gives, I give to you. Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid. 28) You heard that I said to you: “I will leave [you] and come to you.” If you loved Me, you would rejoice that I am going to the Father, for My Father is greater than Me. 29) And now I told you about it before it happened, so that when it comes to pass, you might believe. 30) It’s already a little [I] have to talk to you; For the prince of this world comes and has nothing in Me. 31) But so that the world may know that I love the Father, and as the Father gave Me the commandment, so I do. Get up, let's get out of here." 1) “I am the true vine, and My Father is the vinedresser. 2) Every branch in Me that does not bear fruit is removed; and every one that bears fruit, he cleanses it, that it may bear more fruit. 3) You have already been cleansed through the word that I preached to you. 4) Abide in Me, and I in you. Just as a branch cannot bear fruit by itself unless it remains in the vine, so neither can you unless you remain in Me. 5) I am the [grape] vine, you are the branches; He who abides in Me, and I in him, bears much fruit; for without Me you can do nothing. 6) If anyone does not abide in Me, he will be cast out like a branch and wither; and they will gather it and throw it into the fire, and it will be burned. 7) If you abide in Me and My words abide in you, whatever you desire, ask, and it will be done for you. 8) In this will My Father be glorified [clarificatus], that you bear much fruit and become My disciples. 9) As the Father has loved Me, I have loved you. Abide in My love. 10) If you keep My commandments, you will abide in My love, just as I have kept My Father’s commandments and abide in His love. 11) These things I have spoken to you, that My joy may be in you, and that your joy may be fulfilled. 12) This is My commandment, that you love one another, as I have loved you. 13) No one has greater love than someone who lays down his life for his friends. 14) You are My friends if you do what I command you. 15) I no longer call you slaves, for the slave does not know what his master is doing. But I called you friends, for whatever I heard from My Father I made known to you. 16) You did not choose Me, but I chose you and appointed you, that you should go and bear fruit, and that your fruit should remain, so that whatever you ask of the Father in My name, He may give it to you. 17) I command you this, that you love one another. 18) If the world hates you, know that it hated Me before you. 19) If you were of the world, the world would love its own; But because you are not of the world, but I chose you out of the world, for this reason the world hates you. 20) Remember My word that I said to you: “A servant is not greater than his master” (Matthew 10:24; John 13:16). If I was persecuted, you will be persecuted too; If they have kept my word, they will also keep yours. 21) But they will do all these things to you because of My name, for they do not know Him who sent Me. 22) If I had not come and spoken to them, they would not have had sin; but now they have no excuse for their sin. 23) He who hates Me also hates my Father. 24) If I had not done among them works that no one else had done, they would not have had sin; but now they have seen and hated both Me and My Father. 25) But let the word that is written in their law be fulfilled: “For they hated Me without cause” (Ps. 24:19). 26) When the Comforter comes, whom I will send to you from the Father, the Spirit of truth, who proceeds from the Father, He will testify about Me; 27) and you will bear witness, for you have been with Me from the beginning.” 1) “I told you these things so that you would not be offended. 2) You will be expelled from the synagogues; but the time is coming when whoever kills you will think that he is excellent in pleasing God. 3) And they will do this to you, for they have not known either the Father or Me. 4) But I have told you this so that when their hour comes, you will remember what I told you. 5) I did not tell you this at first, for I was with you. And now I go to Him who sent Me, and none of you asks Me: “Where are you going?” 6) But because I told you this, sorrow filled your heart. 7) But I tell you the truth: it is better for you that I go; for if I do not go, the Comforter will not come to you; if I go, I will send Him to you. 8) And when He comes, He will convict the world about sin, and about righteousness, and about judgment. 9) About sin, that they do not believe in Me. 10) About the truth, that I go to the Father, and you will no longer see Me; 11) About judgment, that the prince of this world has already been condemned. 12) I still have much to tell you; but now you cannot bear it. 13) When He, the Spirit of truth, comes, He will teach you all the truth: for He will not speak of Himself, but what He hears He will speak, and will tell you what is to come. 14) He will glorify Me, for He will take from Mine and proclaim it to you. 15) Everything that the Father has is Mine. Therefore I said: “For he will take of Mine and tell it to you.” 16) For a little while, and you will no longer see Me, and again for a little while, and you will see Me; for I go to the Father.” 17) Some of His disciples said to one another: “What is it that He says to us: “For a little while, and you will not see Me, and again for a little while, and you will see Me,” and: “For I am going to the Father”?” 18) So they said: “What is it that He says, ‘not for long’? We don’t know what He says.” 19) Jesus realized that they wanted to ask Him, and said to them: “Are you asking one another about this, which I said: “A little while and you will not see Me, and again a little while and you will see Me”? 20) Truly, truly, I say to you, although you weep and lament, the world will rejoice; You will be sad, but your sadness will turn into joy. 21) When a woman gives birth, she has sorrow, for her hour has come; when she gives birth to a baby, she no longer remembers the hardships for joy, for a man was born into the world. 22) And you, indeed, now have sorrow; I will see you again, and your heart will rejoice; and no one will take your joy away from you. 23) And on that day you will not ask Me for anything. Truly, truly, I say to you, if you ask the Father for anything in My name, He will give it to you. 24) Until now you have asked nothing in My name; ask and you will receive, so that your joy may be full. 25) I spoke these things to you in parables. The hour is coming when I will no longer speak to you in parables, but will tell you directly about the Father; 26) In that day you will ask in My name, and I do not tell you that I will pray to the Father for you: 27) For the Father Himself loves you, because you have loved Me and believed that I came from God. 28) I came from the Father and came into the world; again I leave the world and go to the Father.” 29) His disciples said to Him: “Behold, now You speak plainly, and do not speak any parables. 30) Now we know that You know everything and have no need for anyone to question You. Therefore we believe that You came from God.” 31) Jesus answered them: “Do you believe now?!” 32) Behold, the hour is coming, and has already come, that you will scatter, each to your own [side], and leave Me alone; but I am not alone, for the Father is with Me. 33) I have spoken these things to you, so that in Me you may have peace. In the world you will have burdens; but trust [that] I have overcome the world.” 1) Jesus said this; and, raising His eyes to heaven, said: “Father! The hour has come; glorify Your Son, that [and] Your Son may glorify You, 2) as You have given Him power over all flesh, that He may give eternal life to all that You have given Him. 3) This is eternal life: that they may know You, the only true God, and Jesus Christ, whom You sent. 4) I glorified You on earth; completed the work that You gave Me to do. 5) And now glorify Me, Father, with You, with the glory that I had before the world was with You. 6) I have revealed Your name to the people whom You gave Me out of the world; [they] were Yours, and [You] gave them to Me, and You have kept Your word. 7) Now they have understood that everything that You have given Me is from You, 8) for the words that You gave Me, I have given to them; and they received and understood truly that I came from You, and they believed that You sent Me. 9) I pray for them: I do not pray for the world, but for those whom You have given Me, for they are Yours. 10) And everything Mine is Yours, and Yours is Mine; and I was glorified in them. 11) And I am no longer in the world, but these are in the world, and I come to You. Holy Father! Keep them in Your name, [those] whom You have given Me, so that they may be one, just as We are. 12) When I was with them, I kept them in Your name. [Those] whom You gave Me I have preserved, and none of them perished except the son of perdition, that the Scripture might be fulfilled. 13) Now I come to You; and I say this in the world, so that they may have complete My joy in themselves. 14) I conveyed to them Your word; and the world hated them, for they are not of the world, just as I am not of the world. 15) I do not pray that You take them out of the world, but that You keep them from evil. 16) They are not of the world, just as I am not of the world. 17) Sanctify them in truth. Your word is truth. 18) Just as You sent Me into the world, and I sent them into the world. 19) And for them I sanctify Myself, so that they also may be sanctified in the truth. 20) I pray not only for them, but also for those who will believe in Me through their word, 21) that all may be one, just as You, Father, are in Me, and I in You, so that they also may be one in Us; that the world may believe that You have sent Me. 22) And I have given them the glory that You gave Me: that they may be one, just as We are one. 23) I am in them, and You are in Me; that they may be perfected in one, and that the world may know that You sent Me and loved them, just as You loved Me. 24) Father! [In relation to those] whom You have given Me, I want them, where I am, to be with Me, so that they may see My glory, which You have given Me; for You loved Me before the foundation of the world. 25) Righteous Father! The world did not know You; But I have known You, and these have known that You sent Me. 26) And I have made Your name known to them and will make it known; that the love with which You loved Me may be in them, and I in them.” 1) When Jesus had said this, He went out with His disciples beyond the brook Kidron, where there was a garden, into which He and His disciples entered. 2) Judas, who betrayed Him, also knew [this] place; for Jesus often met there with his disciples. 3) So, Judas, having taken a cohort [of soldiers] and ministers from the high priests and Pharisees, comes there with lanterns and torches and weapons. 4) Jesus, knowing all that was coming upon Him, went out and said to them: “Whom are you looking for?” 5) They answered him: “Jesus of Nazareth.” Jesus says to them: “I am.” And Judas, who betrayed Him, stood with them. 6) When he said to them: “I am,” they retreated back and fell to the ground. 7) Again he asked them: “Who are you looking for?” They said: “Jesus of Nazareth.” 8) Jesus answered: “I told you that I am; So, if you are looking for Me, let them go.” 9) May the word that He spoke be fulfilled: “For [of those] whom You gave Me, I did not destroy any of them” (John 17:12). 10) Simon Peter, having a sword, drew it, and struck the high priest's servant, and cut off his right ear. The name of the servant was Malchus. 11) So Jesus said to Peter: “Put your sword in its sheath; cup which the Father has given Me, shall I not drink it?” 12) So the cohort and the tribunus and the Jewish ministers took Jesus and bound Him. 13) And they took Him first to Annas, for he was the father-in-law of Caiaphas, who was high priest that year. 14) It was Caiaphas who gave advice to the Jews: “For it is better for one man to die for the people.” 15) Simon Peter and the other disciple followed Jesus. This disciple was known to the high priest and entered with Jesus into the courtyard of the high priest. 16) Peter stood outside the doors. So another disciple, who was known to the high priest, came out and spoke to the doorkeeper and brought Peter in. 17) The servant-gatekeeper said to Peter: “Aren’t you also one of this Man’s disciples?” He said, "Not me." 18) The servants and servants stood by the brazier with coals, for it was cold, and warmed themselves. Peter was also with them, standing, warming himself. 19) The high priest asked Jesus about His disciples and about His teaching. 20) Jesus answered him: “I have spoken openly to the world; I always taught in the synagogue and in the temple, where all the Jews meet, and I did not say anything secretly. 21) Why are you asking Me? Ask those who heard what I said to them; behold, they know what I have spoken.” 22) When He had said this, one of the servants standing close slapped Jesus in the face, saying, “Is this the answer you give to the high priest?” 23) Jesus answered him: “If I have spoken evil, bear witness to the evil; If it’s good that you beat Me?” 24) And Annas sent Him bound to Caiaphas the high priest. 25) Simon Peter stood and warmed himself. So they said to him: “Are you not one of His disciples?” He denied and said: “Not I.” 26) One of the high priest’s servants, a relative of the one whose ear Peter had cut off, said to him, “Didn’t I see you in the garden with Him?” 27) So Peter denied again; and immediately the rooster crowed. 28) So they took Jesus from Caiaphas to the praetorium. It was morning; and they did not enter the praetorium, so as not to be defiled, but so that [they could] eat the Passover. 29) Pilate came out to them and said: “What accusation do you bring against this man?” 30) They answered and said to him: “If this had not been an evildoer, we would not have delivered Him to you.” 31) So Pilate said to them: “Take Him, and judge Him according to your law.” The Jews said to him: “We are not allowed to put anyone to death.” 32) That the word of Jesus might be fulfilled, which He spoke, indicating by what kind of death He would die. 33) So Pilate again entered the praetorium, and called Jesus, and said to Him: “Are you the King of the Jews?” 34) Jesus answered: “Are you saying this on your own behalf, or have others told you about Me?” 35) Pilate answered: “Am I a Jew? Your people and the chief priests delivered You up to me; what have you done? 36) Jesus answered: “My kingdom is not of this world; If My Kingdom were of this world, then My servants would fight for Me so that I would not be betrayed to the Jews; now my kingdom is not from here.” 37) So Pilate said to Him: “Are You therefore a King?” Jesus answered: “You say that I am a King. For this purpose I was born and for this purpose I came into the world, to testify to the truth; everyone who is of the truth listens to my voice.” 38) Pilate said to Him: “What is truth?” And when he had said this, he again went out to the Jews and said to them: “I do not find any [reason for initiating] a case in Him. 39) You have a custom for me to give you one for Easter; So, do you want me to release the King of the Jews to you?” 40) So they all shouted again, saying, “Not this one, but Barabbas.” Barabbas was a robber. 1) So then Pilate took Jesus and scourged him. 2) And the soldiers wove a crown of thorns and placed it on His head, and clothed Him in a scarlet robe. 3) And they came up to Him and said: “Hail, King of the Jews!” - and they slapped Him on the cheeks. 4) So Pilate went out again and said to them: “Behold, I am bringing Him out to you, so that you may know that I do not find any [reason for initiating] a case in Him.” 5) (So Jesus came out, wearing a crown of thorns and a scarlet robe.) And [Pilate] said to them: “Behold, the Man!” 6) When the chief priests and ministers saw Him, they exclaimed, saying: “Crucify, crucify Him!” Pilate says to them: “Take Him and crucify Him; for I find no cause in Him [to initiate] a case.” 7) The Jews answered him: “We have a law, and according to the law He must die, for He made Himself the Son of God.” 8) When Pilate heard this word, he was even more afraid. 9) And he entered the praetorium again and said to Jesus: “Where are you from?” Jesus did not give him an answer. 10) Pilate says to Him: “Are you not talking to me?!” Don’t you know that I have the power to crucify You and the power to release You?” 11) Jesus answered: “You would have no power against Me unless it had been given to you from above; Therefore, the one who handed Me over to you has the greater sin.” 12) And from then on Pilate sought to release Him. The Jews shouted, saying: “If you let Him go, you are not a friend of Caesar; for everyone who makes himself a king will contradict Caesar.” 13) When Pilate heard these words, he brought Jesus out and sat down at the judgment seat in a place called Liphostroton, or in Hebrew Gabbath. 14) For it was Easter Friday, about six o’clock. And he said to the Jews: “Behold, your King!” 15) They shouted: “Take, take, crucify Him!” Pilate said to them: “Shall I crucify your king?” The high priests answered: “We have no king except Caesar.” 16) So then he handed Him over to them to be crucified. They took Jesus and led him away. 17) And, bearing His cross, He went out to a place called the Place of Execution [Calvariae locum], in Hebrew Golgotha; 18) where they crucified Him and two others with Him, there and there, and in the middle was Jesus. 19) Pilate also wrote the inscription and placed it on the cross. It was written: “Jesus of Nazareth, King of the Jews.” 20) Many of the Jews read this inscription, for the place where Jesus was crucified was not far from the city, and it was written in Hebrew, Greek and Latin. 21) The Jewish high priests said to Pilate: “Do not write: “King of the Jews,” but what He said: “I am the King of the Jews.” 22) Pilate answered: “What I wrote, [that] I wrote.” 23) The soldiers, when they had crucified Him, took His clothes (and divided them into four parts, a part for each soldier), and a tunic. The chiton was not sewn, it was all woven on top. 24) So, they said to each other: “We will not tear it apart, but let’s cast lots for it, whose it will be.” May the Scripture be fulfilled which says: “They divided My garments among themselves, and cast lots for My clothing” (Ps. 21:19). And the soldiers did just that. 25) Standing at the cross of Jesus were His Mother and His Mother’s sister, Mary of Cleophas, and Mary Magdalene. 26) When Jesus saw the Mother and the disciple standing, whom he loved, he said to His Mother: “Woman! Behold, Your son." 27) Then he says to the disciple: “Behold, your Mother!” And from that hour the disciple took Her to him. 28) After this, Jesus, knowing that everything was finished so that the Scripture might be fulfilled, said: “I thirst.” 29) So, there stood a vessel full of vinegar. They covered hyssop with a sponge full of vinegar and brought it to His lips. 30) When Jesus tasted the vinegar, he said, “It is finished!” And, bowing his head, he gave up his spirit. 31) The Jews (because it was Friday), so that the bodies would not remain on the cross on the Sabbath (for that was a great Sabbath day), begged Pilate to break their legs and take them off. 32) So the soldiers came, and behold, they broke the legs of the first, and of the other who was crucified with Him. 33) When they came to Jesus, when they saw Him already dead, they did not break His legs, 34) but one of the soldiers opened His side with a spear, and immediately blood and water came out. 35) And he who saw it testified, and his testimony is true. And he knows what he says is true, so that you too may believe. 36) For this happened, so that the Scripture might be fulfilled: “You shall not break a bone from Him” (Ex.12:46; Num.9:12; Ps.33:21). 37) And again another Scripture says: “They will look at Him whom they have pierced” (Zech. 12:10). 38) After this, Joseph from Arimathea begged Pilate (since he was a disciple of Jesus, but secretly, for fear of the Jews) to remove the body of Jesus. And Pilate allowed it. So He went and took down the body of Jesus. 39) Nicodemus, who had previously come to Jesus at night, also came and brought a composition of myrrh and aloes, about a hundred pounds. 40) So they took the body of Jesus and wrapped it in linens with spices, as is customary for Jews to bury. 41) There was a garden in the place where He was crucified; and in the garden there is a new tomb, in which no one has yet been laid. 42) There, for the sake of Jewish Friday, since the tomb was close, they laid Jesus. 1) On the very first [day of the week] Saturday, Mary Magdalene comes early, when there was still darkness, to the tomb, and sees a stone lifted from the tomb. 2) So he runs and comes to Simon Peter and the other disciple whom Jesus loved, and says to them: “They took the Lord from the tomb, and we do not know where they laid Him.” 3) So Peter and the other disciple went out and went to the tomb. 4) They both ran together; but another disciple ran ahead of Peter, and came to the tomb first. 5) And when he bent down, he saw the linens lying; but, however, did not enter. 6) So Simon Peter came, following him, and entered the tomb, and saw only the linen cloths lying, 7) and the cloth that was on His head, not laid with the linen cloths, but especially rolled up in one place. 8) Then the other disciple, who had first come to the tomb, also entered, and saw and believed. 9) For they did not yet know the Scripture, that He must rise from the dead. 10) So, the disciples went home again. 11) Mary stood outside the tomb, weeping. When she was weeping, she bent down and looked into the tomb, 12) and saw two angels in a white robe sitting, one at the head and the other at the feet, where the body of Jesus was laid. 13) They tell her: “Woman! Why are you crying? He says to them: “For they have taken my Lord, and I do not know where they have laid Him.” 14) When she had said this, she turned back and saw Jesus standing; and did not recognize that it was Jesus. 15) Jesus says to her: “Woman! Why are you crying? Who are you looking for? She, thinking that it is the gardener, says to Him: “Sir! If you have stolen Him, tell me where you have laid Him, and I will take Him.” 16) Jesus says to her: “Mary!” She turned and said to Him: “Rabbi!” (which means "Teacher"). 17) Jesus said to her: “Do not touch Me, for I have not yet ascended to My Father; Go to My brothers and say to them: “I ascend to My Father and your Father, and to My God and your God.” 18) Mary Magdalene comes, announcing to the disciples: “For I have seen the Lord, and He spoke this to me.” 19) When it was evening on that day, the first [day of the week] after the Sabbath, and the doors were shut [where the disciples were] for fear of the Jews (out of fear of the Jews), Jesus came and stood in the middle and said to them: “Peace be with you!” 20) And when He had said this, He showed them His hands and His side. The disciples were glad when they saw the Lord. 21) He said to them again: “Peace be with you! As the Father sent Me, [so] I send you.” 22) When He had said this, He blew and said to them: “Receive the Holy Spirit; 23) whose sins you forgive will be forgiven; on whomever you leave it, it will remain on him.” 24) But Thomas, one of the twelve, called Didymus, was not with them when Jesus came. 25) The other disciples said to him: “We have seen the Lord.” But he said to them: “Unless I see in His hands the marks of the nails, and put my finger in the place where the nails were, and put my hand in His side, I will not believe.” 26) And after eight days His disciples were again inside, and Thomas with them. Jesus came through the locked doors, and stood in the middle, and said: “Peace be with you!” 27) Then he says to Thomas: “Put your finger here and see My hands; and give me your hand and place it in my side; and do not be an unbeliever, but a believer” [et noli esse incredulus, sed fidelis]. 28) Thomas answered and said to Him: “My Lord and my God!” 29) Jesus said to him: “Because you have seen Me, Thomas, you have believed; Blessed are those who have not seen and yet have believed.” 30) And Jesus did many other signs in the sight of His disciples, which are not written in this book. 31) These things are written so that you may believe that Jesus is the Christ, the Son of God, and that by believing you may have life in His name. 1) After this, Jesus again revealed Himself to the disciples on the Sea of Tiberias. He revealed this: 2) Simon Peter, and Thomas, called Didymus, and Nathanael, who was from Cana in Galilee, and the sons of Zebedee, and two others of His disciples were together. 3) Simon Peter says to them: “I’m going fishing.” They say to him: “You and I are going too.” And they went out and boarded the ship, and that night they caught nothing. 4) When morning came, Jesus stood on the shore; but the disciples did not know that it was Jesus. 5) So Jesus says to them: “Young men! Do you have any snack?” They answered Him: “No.” 6) He said to them: “Cast the net on the right side of the boat and you will find it.” So, they cast it in, and could no longer pull it out due to the multitude of fish. 7) The disciple whom Jesus loved said to Peter: “This is the Lord.” Simon Peter, when he heard that it was the Lord, girded himself with clothing (for he was naked) and threw himself into the sea. 8) The other disciples arrived in the ship (for they were not far from the land, but about two hundred cubits), dragging a net with fish. 9) When they came down to earth, they saw coals laid out and fish and bread laid on them. 10) Jesus said to them: “Bring some of the fish that you have now caught.” 11) Simon Peter climbed in and pulled out to the ground a net filled with large fish, [of which there were] one hundred and fifty-three. And when there was so much, the network was not broken. 12) Jesus said to them: “Come and have dinner.” None of those reclining dared to ask Him: “Who are you?” - knowing that it is the Lord. 13) And Jesus comes and takes the bread and gives it to them, and in like manner also the fish. 14) This was the third time Jesus appeared to His disciples when He rose from the dead. 15) While they were dining, Jesus said to Simon Peter: “Simon Ioannis! Do you love Me more than they?” He says to Him: “Yes, Lord! You know that I love You." He says to him: “Feed My lambs.” 16) He says to him again: “Simon Ioannov! Do you love Me? He says to Him: “Yes, Lord! You know that I love You." He says to him: “Feed My lambs.” 17) He says to him for the third time: “Simon Ioannov! Do you love Me? Peter was saddened that he said to him for the third time: “Do you love me?” and said to Him: “Lord! You know everything; You know that I love You." He says to him: “Feed My sheep. 18) Truly, truly, I say to you, when you were younger, you girded yourself and went where you wanted; When you are old, you will stretch out your hands, and another will gird you and lead you where you do not want.” 19) He said this, indicating by what death he would glorify God. And when he had said this, he said to him: “Follow Me.” 20) Turning, Peter sees the disciple following him, whom Jesus loved and who at the supper reclined at His chest and said: “Lord! Who is it that betrays You? 21) So when Peter saw him, he said to Jesus: “Lord! What is this?” 22) Jesus said to him: “If I want him to remain until I come, what is that to you? Follow Me." 23) And this word spread among the brethren that that disciple would not die. But Jesus did not say to him: “He will not die,” but: “So I want him to remain until I come; what is that to you?” 24) This is the disciple who gives testimony about this and wrote it; and we know that his testimony is true. 25) Now there are many other things that Jesus did; that if everything were written separately, I think the world itself could not contain the books written. Amen.
