You have been delivered, my most honest and reverent lord, from the disasters now raging in Armenia; and for us, in addition to the local turmoil, or, more precisely, the dangers that threaten us with death every day, we are also greatly burdened by separation from such a kind, sincerely and genuinely disposed person as you. This was joined by another grief - the long silence of your dimension. Since you left here, we have now received only the second letter from you: I say this not as a reproach to you, but out of a sense of my own grief. That the road leading to us here is indeed currently impassable for travelers, everyone knows, and, of course, this can serve as your justification; but all this is not at all consoling for us; on the contrary, that is why we especially grieve because the last consolation left to us after separation from you was taken away from us in this way. Since this obstacle has not yet been eliminated, and the horrors, on the contrary, are increasing more and more every day, then please, for the grief caused to us by your long silence, reward us in another way: do not forget us, and when you write to us, write letters as long as possible, telling them in detail about your health, complacency and well-being.
